Parent/Teacher Interviews We would like to remind all parents that Parent/Teacher Interviews will be held in Week 10 of this term. Interview timeslots will be available online from tomorrow Friday 14 June 4pm, until Thursday 20 June 4pm. Reports will go home on Friday of Week 9 in preparation for the first interviews to be held on the following Monday. To make a booking for your child/rens parent/teacher interview please click on the link below. Or cut & paste the URL into a browser. https://sobs.com.au/pt3/parent.php?schoolid=978
Half Yearly Reports Half yearly reports will be handed out on Friday, 21 June. All parents/carers are encouraged to meet with their child’s classroom teacher to discuss their progress.
Attendance – Every Day Counts A day here and there does not seem like much but when your child misses just 1 day each fortnight that equals 20 days per year which is 4 weeks of school. If this happens from Kindergarten to Year 12, that is nearly 1 ½ years of school. Give your child every chance to succeed………EVERY DAY COUNTS.
Formative Assessment
As part of our School Plan, the teachers have been focusing in the area of embed-
ding formative assessment practices into their teaching. This allows teachers to
focus on assessment to help guide future planning in their teaching. School re-
sources have been utilised to support teachers in this area as well as imple-
menting professional learning sessions based on formative assessment strategies.
Why is it important for students to get to school on time?
To be part of the morning greeting
To know what’s happening during the school day
To start lessons on time and to understand what to do in class
Reinforced the importance of punctuality
Students who arrive to school on time are generally more settled and ready to
learn.
It’s also very important for parents to be at school on time to pick up their chil-
dren. It can be very upsetting for a child if their parent is late. Students are to re-
port immediately to their classroom teacher if their parent is not at school on
time of an afternoon. If the teacher is not in their classroom, then students must
report to the school office where parents will be contacted.

Parent Behaviour at PSSA Sport
We are blessed to have a very friendly and highly supportive parent community here at Wideview Public
School. However, this doesn’t flow on to other schools and the PSSA Association has asked schools to re-
mind parents about appropriate behaviour at games. Recently there have been a number of incidents in-
volving abusive language by parents towards umpires and referees at PSSA sport events on Fridays. There is
no room whatsoever for this sort of behaviour on our sports grounds.
Parents and family members may attend sporting venues if they wish, but they need to observe the Code of
Conduct and normal school rules. I would draw particular attention to the following elements of the code:
Remember that children learn best by example. Appreciate good performances and skillful plays by all
participants.
Support all efforts to remove verbal and physical abuse from sporting activities.
Respect official’s decisions and teach children to do likewise.
Show appreciation for volunteer coaches, officials and administrators. Without them your child could
not participate. There would be no PSSA competition.
Be courteous in your communication with players, team coach, team officials, game officials and sport
administrators and show appreciation for their services.
Kindergarten 2020
Is your child starting kindergarten in 2020?
If so, please collect your enrolment pack from the school office. Enrolment forms are due by the 30 August.
We are also taking bookings for our Kinderlinks program. It will run on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays in
November.
School Calendar
The Calendar is updated each week. Please check regularly for any additions or changes which will be
marked in red for your convenience.

Jollybops Science Show Visit
On Wednesday 12th June we had a visit from the Jollybops Science Show. Students
from all classes were presented with an exciting science show, full of exhilarating
explosions, bursting balloons, a crazy, pewter coloured robot and professor.
Book Club update
There has been a delay in delivering some of the Book Club orders from Issue 3. We apologise for the delay
but we are assured by Scholastic that all books will be delivered shortly.
Issue 4 catalogues were sent home last week. All orders need to be placed by 21 June to avoid missing out.
A quick reminder too that orders need to be placed online using LOOP (see the back page of the catalogue)
as cash is no longer accepted for Book Club orders at our school. We realise this might be an inconvenience
for some parents, however Scholastic reminds us that
online orders are more easily tracked and students who
order online are eligible for bonuses and giveaways not
available for cash orders.

WINTER WONDERLAND: WIDEVIEW FETE UPDATE
GET YOUR TICKETS NOW! Hurry, hurry! If “buying Winter Wonderland tickets” has been on your “to do” list, now is the time to tick it off! With only 2 weeks until Winter Wonderland, be sure to buy your tickets online for early bird savings. Plus, if you buy an Unlimited Rides Wristband before this Sunday 16 June (midnight), you’ll go in the run-ning to win an exclusive session of Laser Tag for up to 20 people! So hop online NOW to secure your fun! http://www.trybooking.com/BCLFV TREASURE TROVE: DONATIONS WANTED There’s never been a better time to declutter! There’s going to be a Treasure Trove at the Wideview Fete, and we need your good quality goods to sell to the local community - such as homewares, trinkets, small plants, older children’s toys and games. All sales proceeds will go straight back to our lovely school! Please no clothes, food or books. All items need to be clean and unbroken, with all parts included. To find out drop off location, please SMS Christy on 0401 006 115 or Michelle on 0434 351 392. Donations must be made before this Sunday 16 June. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! We need YOUR help to make Winter Wonderland a huge success! We have 67 extra ‘general duty’ volun-teer roles that need filling (1.5 hour shifts) and only have 14 volunteers so far. Without an amazing team of volunteers who help with a variety of duties on the day, the fete can’t operate smoothly. Volunteering at the fete only requires a short amount of time and it is a great way to meet other parents (and the kids love seeing their parents get involved too!). Examples of volunteer roles needed on the day are as follows: Set Up and Take Down of equipment/entertainment Keeping facilities stocked
Handing out fliers/gold coin collection Floaters and Runners (move around event and fill in where needed)
Security/Information/Lost and Found
Photographer/Videographer Recycle/Rubbish

AFTERNOON IN THE
GARDENS’
Working Bee – Sunday, 16 June 2019
Time: 12.00 pm to 2.00 pm
To ensure the gardens and outdoor areas of Wideview and looking their very best for the upcoming Win-
ter Wonderland Fete we are holding a Garden Working Bee this Sunday, 16 June from 12.00 – 2.00 pm.
For parents with children attending the Band Camp (also this Sunday) – the time coincides with drop off –
so if you can offer some time when you drop off your children that would be great.
Apologies to all the children who love to come along to help in the gardens but will be having a wonder-
ful musical afternoon…there will be other working bees to get your hands dirty coming up in Terms 3 and
4.
There is lots to do – so it would be great to see as many volunteers as possible this Sunday for as little or
as much time as you can spare.
We all know it is a busy time with the countdown to Winter Wonderland – baking, running stalls, etc, etc
– but what could be more fun, than a couple of hours in the sun helping to make Wideview look fantas-
tic?
The more the merrier, so please come along – adults and children (not attending Band Camp) are very
welcome – BYO tools, hats, water and lots of enthusiasm. We’d love to see you for whatever time you
can spare to help get the Wideview grounds looking great for the Winter Wonderland on 30 June.
Where will me meet?
This Sunday – in the main car park (Wideview Road entrance) and we’ll take it from there…be aware it
will be busy as children are being dropped off for Band Camp.
Thanks
Kath Edgar, P&C President
