Tejas Eye Hospital Run by Divyajyoti Trust | Suthar Faliya , At & Po. Mandvi , Dist. - Surat - 394160 | Telephone No. 02623 - 221180, Dec-2017
Fortunately, the effect of demonetization did not last long. The workload and the paying patient load became normal this month. In fact, we have done maximum
number of surgical procedures in the history of the trust in this month – the total tallies at ……
Trying to go cashless, is not getting quick support from the bank. We have applied for the equipment to accept credit / debit card payment. The bank is taking its
own sweet time. Asking for one or the other detail and delaying the process.
Dr. Jyotindra Brahmbhatt – a retired Ophthalmologist has joined us this month. His presence will help us apply for DNB registration as he has been in academic field
for nearly 30 years.

NETRAJYOTI TRAINING CENTRE
Training of new batch of Vision technician students and ophthalmic nursing students is progressing well. We are trying to tie up with Uka Tarsadiya University to
give them a certificate under Skill India Project. Dr. Ritesh Brahmbhatt – son of our senior Ophthalmologist who was visiting his father, took two sessions for our
students on digestive system and urinary system. A good revision for the students. We appreciate his gesture.
Dr. Shruti Gajera from Surat has continued her SICS training in this third month and also did one month phaco training during the month. Dr. Atiya Pathan from
Ankleshwar did one month medical retina fellowship during the month.
Mr. Mohit Kalma from BPA’s Bareja Eye Hospital came for one month training in optical fitting and Mr. Sanjeev Rana and Mr. Pinakin Jadav came here for one
week training in OT protocol from the same hospital. All these training activities are supported by SCALE project. We are happy to provide training to partner hospi-
tals under SCALE project.
CAMPS
WORKSHOPS AND CONFERENCES
Mr. Nikhil Mehta and Mr. Vimal Prajapati – both administrators attended the one day workshop on “Cost management in NGO” at
Sadguru Netra Chikitsalaya, Chitrakoot under the aegis of Vision 2020: Right to Sight India Programme on 17.12. 2016. This activity was
supported under SCALE project through H. V. Desai Eye Hospital.
Mr. Viral Tailor & Mr. Vimal Prajapati attended the one day workshop on “Supervisory skills for Hospital Personnel” at Vadodara organ-
ised by Indian Hospital Association on 31.12.2016.
Dr. Rohan Chariwala and Mrs. Sunita Vasava conducted two days training programme on 15-16 Dec. in OT protocol at Mahadeo Singhi
Eye Hospital, Pilani. This activity was organised by Sightsavers.
Dr. Uday conducted half a day workshop on OT protocol for the partner hospitals of Sightsavers – Indira Gandhi Eye Hospital- lucknow,
Sitapur Eye Hospital – Sitapur, Christian Eye Hospital -Kashganj and SNC – Chitrakoot on 15th Dec.
Mega eye camp sponsored by Shri Premnarayanji Rathi and his family and friends was conducted between 18th to 22nd Dec. Daily more
than 60 operations were carried out. The sponsors were very happy. Our team put in extra efforts to generate more work and tackle the
same. We had to use Punamwadi to keep pre operative patients for one night.
We joined hands with Vanbandhu trust, Ahwa for a week long camp. It was a general camp – we took care of the eye patients. However,
surgical patients did not agree to come to Mandvi. Dr. Ashokbhai Patel a dentist from Boston is setting up a general hospital there and
he came and requested us to help him.
CONSULTANCY AND EVALUATION
Dr. Uday conducted evaluation of two hospitals – one in Lucknow, UP –Indira Gandhi Eye hospital and the other one in Sitapur, UP – Sitapur
Eye Hospital between 12th to 15th Dec. This was suggested by Sightsavers and both were follow up visits. He was accompanied by Mr.
Shailendra Kumar and Mr. Pramod Tripathi from Sightsavers. It was heartening to see the changes implemented by both the hospitals
based on first visit in 2013. It gives a deep sense of satisfaction that we are able to help other hospitals avoid the major disaster. When the
hospital team including management and doctors say that your suggestions were useful, we feel that the efforts were successful. The time
and energy spent in the activity were worth everything.
General
We have installed steam cooking equipments. We will be using solar heated water for the steam cooking so that the water will reach boiling in no
time. This will be another eco friendly feature and also help the kitchen staff save time.
RNC hospital team visited our hospital in three batches to see the activities – operation theatre protocol in particular.
Sanjaybhai Parmar – senior manager, Rotary Foundation, Delhi office visited us to see the activities. KAPS CSR head from Mumbai office and Shri L.
K. Jain – site director, KAPS visited the hospital during the month.
COMMUNITY EYE SERVICES PROJECT UMARPADA AND MANGROL BLOCKS:
World Handicapped day was celebrated with enthusiasm on 3rd Dec. For the first time, we organised various competitions for handicapped persons. Totally 72 handicapped individu-
als took part. Winners were given prizes – courtesy our trustee Shri Balubhai Patel. Mandvi Nagarpalika joined hands by providing ground free of cost, making arrangement for man-
dap and food for all the participants. Office bearers of Nagarapalika remained present and boosted the spirits of the participants.
UMARPADA – DEDIAPADA AND SAGBARA VISION CENTRE
All the vision centres have continued to give good output. We are really happy about the progress at vision centres. Almost 40 operations were performed on patients referred from vi-
sion centres.
Telemedicine activity is started at Umarpada during the month. We hope to get going with the other two centres also next month. Thanks to Reliance JIO – this became possible.
NETRANG, JHANKHVAV AND VYARA SATELLITE CENTRE:
Netrang – 46, Vyara -11 and Jhankhvav -10 centres performed surgeries right there. We hope to bring up the numbers at secondary centres in near future.
The work at Netrang has started picking up as expected with the beginning of winter.
Ultimately, we started surgical work in Vyara from 5th Dec. onwards. District Collector, Vyara did the inauguration of the operation theatre. Dr. Sheetal Chaudhary – our senior Ophthal-
mologist and incidentally from Vyara – did the inaugural surgery.
Telemedicine is active now at all the three secondary centres. Netrang and Vyara are under UCOM and Jhankhvav is under Reliance JIO. Our senior Ophthalmologist Dr. Brahmbhatt has
taken up the responsibility of seeing all telemedicine patients.
