PRINCIPAL’S REPORT
VCE results
Due to COVID-19, 2020 VCE students did not receive their results until 31st of December. As a cohort
their results were very pleasing. The group achieved an All Study Mean Score of 27.9. This is the highest
achieved in the last five years so congratulations to all students and staff on their efforts. Further to this,
all students successfully passed VCE and received their VCE certificate. I would also like to acknowledge
that 15 students gained an apprenticeship during the holidays.
Due to the lateness of the results, we were not able to present awards to students at Speech Night – poor
weather also had that event cancelled. These results were recognised at a General Assembly last
Monday. The KTHS 2020 Dux, Demby Makeham was invited back and acknowledged in front of the
School. Investiture for school student officials, the 2021 School Captains Laura Thomas and Jordan
Faulkner as well as House Captains, were also presented to the school community at the General
Assembly. The staff and I look forward to working with them throughout the year.

Start to the year
2021 start to the year was a split start. The Year 7’s started on the Thursday then Year 7’s and Year 12’s
on the Friday and all other year levels back on the Monday. The start has worked well allowing the Year
7’s to find their feet when they had very little access to the school due to the pandemic.
KTHS also has had 11 new students enrol since the start of the year and we wish to make them welcome.
School numbers currently sit at 257. This is slightly up from last year’s 248.
Review
School review commences Monday 15th February. Made up of four days including…
Review Validation Day - Monday 15 February
Fieldwork - Tuesday 23 and Wednesday 24 February
Panel Day - Thursday 25 February
A Pre-Review Self-Assessment was required before the review detailing the school’s performance against
set goals from 4 years ago. The school met its VCE target of 28 Mean Average score and met it’s
Stimulating Learning Target of 50% as from the Students Attitude to Schools Survey.
The review is led by a Reviewer with the assistance of two Challenge Partners. This will be interesting as
it is always good to have someone from the outside looking in.

KTHS SWIMMING SPORTS
On Friday 5th February, the KTHS swimming carnival will be held at theKerang Swimming Pool.
We are in the process of finalising the program for the carnival. Studentswill be given the opportunity to sign up for the freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly events.
Our school has once again kindly donated a sausage sizzle to all studentsto enjoy. There will also be a variety of novelty events both in and out ofthe water that will allow our non-swimmers to participate and enjoy theday.
ALL STUDENTS are encouraged to come along wearing their HOUSEcolours. It would also be great to see our family and friends come alongto help us cheer on the swimmers. Students must attend school in themorning for Home Group before being escorted to the pool by staff.
This event is a compulsory school activity and all students whether theyintend to swim or not, are required to attend. Those students notinterested in swimming are encouraged to assist staff with the running ofthe events or take part in the additional water based activities.
No students are permitted to leave the venue during the day. No mobilephones are to be used throughout the day, as it is a usual school day.
School buses will be picking the students up from the pool in theafternoon, so students do not have to make their way back to school.
If you are a parent/guardian and are able to assist on the day (even forpart of the day) please contact the school or myself before Friday 5th
February.
