Post on 06-Aug-2020
Farewell to 2018 I hope members had an enjoyable HPG year and are pleased with the
activities the committee organised. Our great success of the year was
the Northern Zone Convention managed by David Targett and his team.
Our meetings and workshops were generally well attended, but we are
looking for ways of encouraging more members to take advantage of
these valuable sessions.
I thank the committee members for their outstanding work and strong
commitment to the HPG: Kevin Ho and Colin Bennett, for preparation
and presentation of their workshops; Lindie Kolver, who oversaw the
establishment of the new web site for HPG competitions and who made
the Northern Zone photography competition a great success. Ian
Wilbore our Secretary-Treasurer, who maintains HPG finances and
documentation efficiently, and John Shaw who continually enhances
the quality of our great newsletter.
It is with great pleasure that I welcome Trevor Dearle to the committee
as an Assistant Competition Steward, who will help Lindie with a busy
schedule of activities for the coming year, including the 2019 Northern
Zone competition.
Photoshop ‘Light Room’ Presentation It recently became a revelation to me that many of our top
winning HPG photographers use PS Lightroom almost
exclusively for their photo editing. Some use Photoshop
for more advanced post processing, but others rarely use
it—if at all.
If these accomplished photographers can achieve such excellent results
using Lightroom, I think it might be useful if their techniques were
shared with members. Nick Lefebvre, a great photographer and
dedicated Lightroom user, has agreed to give a presentation at the
February club night on why he uses this program.
I look forward to hearing his talk and demonstration.
Club Nights and Workshops 2019 The committee is constantly seeking interesting speakers, and
unfortunately the tyranny of distance precludes many experts from
attending our club. We remain undaunted, and so far, Lindie has
booked some interesting presenters for next year.
We continue to seek high quality presenters who can enhance HPG
members knowledge and skills; watch this newsletter.

Monthly Newsletter
Club Activities
Meetings are held at 7.00pm on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month. Visitors are always welcome.
Venue: Emerald Downs Community Centre, Lighthouse Plaza, Port Macquarie. Entry via the Emerald Drive roundabout
at the corner of the Plaza building in the lower carpark area.
Club Night program on the first Tuesday includes print competitions, photographic tutorials, presentations and discussions.
Monthly projected digital image com-petitions are held on the third Tuesday, and judged by accredited Federation of Camera Club judges.
Our Hastings MyPhotoClub Website is continually updated to provide information about club activities: documentation, rules and definitions, tutorials, newsletters, and how to join.
Digital and Print photography competitions are managed via the website and members use it to upload their images and view results and comments
Group Facebook account enables members to contact each other and share information.
Newsletter is emailed to members each month: includes club news, feature articles, competition results, details of planned activities/events, and may be downloaded from the website.
Coffee Mornings are held every Wednesday (see Club Calendar) at venues all over the local area and provide a great opportunity to socialise, discuss club matters, photog-raphy, and just about everything else.

Tearoom Roster - Meetings & Workshops On November Digital night, I invited members to register
for tearoom duty on our club nights, digital nights and
workshops to set up the kitchen ready for the tea-coffee
break, and to wash-up and return equipment to the
kitchen cupboard. I thank Susie Smith and Stewart
Cooper for immediately volunteering for the next two
meetings and ask other members to sign up for
subsequent meetings and workshops. We hope all
members, both male and female, will volunteer and
make it a fun project.
We have obtained a special apron to be signed with a
permanent pen by the rostered member and then handed
over to the next meeting’s tearoom duty member.
It should not happen more than twice a year depending
on the response from members. We appreciate members
who lend a hand at the meetings. Lindie or a committee
member will purchase the supplies. The tearoom duty
registration form will be available at meetings for
members to sign up.
Lindie will now be free to concentrate on the Competition
Steward’s responsibilities at meetings.
.
Season’s Greetings On behalf of the committee, I wish members and their
families a Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy
New Year. The first meeting of 2019 will be on Tuesday
15th January at 7:00pm for the January digital
competition results and presentation of trophies and
awards for 2018. Harry
