Light and wallsTo create a pleasing sense of luminosity in an
ambience it is important to light the walls. This is
much more effective and efficient than diffused
direct lighting, and depends on the way in which
we perceive space. Illuminating the walls also
highlights displayed shelf goods. On the other
hand, carefully directed accent lighting is the best
option if you want to emphasize and enhance
products positioned in the centre of the store.

Transforming shop-window goods into objects
of desire requires a carefully judged use of light.
Concentrated beams of white light, appropriately
angled and directed, make the product the
real star of the show. Accessories such as
‘blade of light’ or diffusion filters can be used
to enhance the effect. And to add a touch of
theatricality to the presentation, the background
can be enriched with colour through filters or
transformed into a dynamic stage set by using
lighting systems and digitally controlled luminous
surfaces that make it possible to produce a play
of colour, images, graphics and writing.
