Introduction

North Philadelphia is rich in culture and history, from annual festivals to sites dating back several decades. However, beautiful churches and thriving businesses are juxtaposed with dilapidated buildings and abandoned lots filled with waste. This book serves as a raw look at the streets where so many people work, eat, play, worship, and call home. Unfortunately, the area is also home to high crime and poverty rates. Susquehanna Avenue and Diamond Street are among the many streets in need of renovation, as a step to providing a better future for North Philadelphia residents.
