5 students have created an after-school enrichment program at Tech where they get to pass on the
entrepreneurship and robotics skills learned during the summer program to Tech students with an
interest in mechatronics. They are currently preparing for the third phase of the program -

Other Opportunities (not affiliated with BTHS)
NBC News Young Leaders in Journalism exposes New York City public high school students
interested in news to the inner workings of the profession and to distinguished journalists. We will
aim to identify students with a passion for journalism, nurture their interest through education,
motivate them to pursue their dreams, and encourage them to contribute their knowledge to their
community.
A class of ten selected high school students from New York City will meet daily at 30 Rockefeller
Plaza in Manhattan from July 22, 2019 to August 2, 2019. The program will focus on six principal
areas:
(i) experiencing day-to-day life within a cross-platform news organization through job shadowing
and exposure to NBC News journalists;
(ii) required writing assignments that will be reviewed and critiqued by a journalism instructor to
help develop students' writing and reporting style;
(iii) a speaker series and field trips involving respected journalists and executives who will discuss
their career paths and address relevant daily themes;
(iv) a final project involving the filming, reporting and editing of a news segment;
(v) professional and academic mentoring; and
(vi) required reading assignments of various daily and weekly news publications to which students
will receive free subscriptions.
In order to impact students with underresourced financial backgrounds who can benefit most from
the program, only individuals with total household incomes under $60,000 will be considered,
except for circumstances in which students can explain why they qualify as "financially
underresourced." The program is open to rising juniors and seniors, is free to accepted students,
and covers all transportation and food expenses. Applications are due Thursday, April 18,
2019.
Are you Interested in issues of national security and social change facing our military?

April 3rd from 3:45 to 5:00 PM. All are welcome to take part in this valuable discussion!
