Transcript of Sunday 9th October

Gift Day – A chance to support the growth and development of

Emmanuel

Emmanuel – God is Here

We gather for worship in different ways and at different

timesOn Sundays at 9.15am,10.30am and 7pm... and

also….

Midweek worship with space for Healing Prayers

Everyone Welcome

Monthly, Thursdays at 7.30pm

It’s great to be involved with other worship as well. Here

Wilthorpe Infants celebrate their Harvest Festival at Emmanuel.

But beyond worship Emmanuel is active in lots of different ways….

In caring for each other

In helping each other to grow in our faith

In serving the community around us

In fighting injustice

In seeking to make more disciples of Christ

Here’s our 2005 Holiday Club, “Landlubbers”

Sharing the story and love of Jesus with over 60

children

And our Holiday Club Service which was such a

success

“Roots” is the name of our thriving work with

children and young people on Sunday mornings.

Every Sunday morning our children and young people

learn more about Jesus’ love and how each of them

matters to God.

And here’s our new “Tuesday Club” where 5-11s are learning

all about the “Fruits of the Spirit.”

And our Brownies and Guides go from strength to strength as they

play, learn and raise money for charity.

And our Toddler Group & Little Fishes cater for 0-3s and their

parents. Lots of fun for everyone!

And Youth Alpha is helping over 20 teenagers to understand Christianity better.

We pray that they will come to faith, and grow in their faith.

Emmanuel Methodist Church Barnsley Circuit

Full Time Lay Minister with responsibility

for Children's and Youth Work An exciting opportunity to join our growing church and

lead our existing team in the further development of our ministry to children and young people

£19,053 pa + expenses

Initially 3 years with continuation subject to funding

And as our work with children and young people grows and develops,

so it needs more leadership. That’s why we’re advertising now to recruit a new Lay Minister to

head up the Children’s and Youth Work.

We also provide opportunities for the housebound to get together.

This year we had a tea followed by a short service which included

Communion.

Our Housegroup network continues to grow.

Housegroups are such a good way to make friends, care for one

another and grow in our faith.

See what they get up to!

There are other great opportunities to meet up and chat. Here’s our Tuesday Morning Coffee Morning.

And other social events too.

And such a great team of people who cater for everyone.

Food, glorious food!

Talking of which, now we’re a Fair Trade Church – seeking to

actively support efforts to ensure everyone in our world

gets a fair share.

And here’s some of our church who went to Mozambique in

September to help build 5 new houses.

And here’s Eileen who went to see children in Uganda – our A.F.R.I.C.A. project for 2005.

And our Coffee Morning has bought them a Cow

And here’s the Pearl of Africa Choir at Emmanuel just a few

days ago.

Last autumn we held our first Church Weekend. A great time of

fellowship and fun as we shared all about “Travelling On.”

Some of the keen ones enjoyed a bracing walk on the Saturday

afternoon!

And there’s so much more as well!

So, thank you for all the ways in which you are helping to develop the

Ministry of Emmanuel.

And let’s look forward with confidence to what God is going to do amongst us and with us in the

future.

Let’s all play our part in giving generously to ensure that all God’s

work is financed.
