Sullivan Renaissance is a beautification and community development initiative of the Gerry Foundation. We believe that beautification builds community pride; and that partnerships and grassroots volunteerism build beautiful, healthy, active communities. Through a competitive grant process, Sullivan Renaissance offers funding, technical assistance and other resources in support of this mission.
The Beautification Program offers a range of grants based on scope of project and funding availability. See the 2020 Beautification Grant Summary for specific details and program resources.
Prospective applicants are encouraged to read through these documents thoroughly to become familiar with the program resources and requirements before submitting an application. Sullivan Renaissance offers educational and technical support throughout the year and can provide assistance with design, choice of plant materials and/or a referral for professional rendering or landscape plan. In addition, architectural design assistance may be available for projects involving façade work or exterior building renovations.
Applicants will be notified whether funding has been approved. Sullivan Renaissance reserves the right to redirect category placement among our various grant programs
ELIGIBIILTY
GARDEN GRANTS up to $1,500.00 are for new beautification projects at a single location. This includes simple projects like sign gardens and building landscaping, as well as complex projects with multiple elements, provided the project is at a single location. A 25% match is required in the form of funds, in-kind, or donated goods and services.
Community groups, religious institutions, schools and units of local government are eligible to apply for projects based in Sullivan County, NY. If the applicant is not a designated 501 (c) (3) they should contact Sullivan Renaissance to discuss options.
Projects must have a beautification component and result in a significant aesthetic improvement. Preference is given to projects that are visible to the public. Sullivan Renaissance places a special emphasis on good design and sustainability. Outreach and inclusion are also important considerations.
In addition to the grant application, applicants must submit a completed Garden Design Packet. Completed applications and documentation must be received by March 2, 2020 to be considered for a 2020 grant. Additional information and sample forms can be found at SullivanRenaissance.org
PROJECT DOCUMENTATION
Beautification grants require that applications be accompanied by budgets and other necessary documents. These are detailed throughout the application. Applications received without required documentation will be deemed incomplete and will remain pending until such documents are received, which may impact funding approval. All funded projects are required to submit final reports no later than July 27, 2020.

GRANTS These reimbursable grants are
a step into the Renaissance Beautification Program; and a good way to get started by planting a simple garden, enhancing an existing garden, adding containers, planters, or hanging baskets. Preference is given to first-time applicants.
These grants are for new beautification projects at a single location. This includes sign gardens and building landscaping, as well as projects with multiple elements provided that the project is limited to the single location.
These reimbursable grants provide limited financial, volunteer and horticultural support to maintain and/or refresh gardens at a single location. These projects must have been funded by Sullivan Renaissance prior to 2018.
These grants are for community-wide beautification projects at more than one location. Funding may be used for new projects and/or to maintain previously funded Sullivan Renaissance projects. Examples include public gardens, parks, and streetscape enhancements.
These reimbursable grants are for current or past Sullivan Renaissance Beautification projects. They may be used to purchase items such as irrigation systems to make maintenance easier; or for contracted services for major garden renovation.
