Student Philanthropy Program History• 1999 The Mayerson Student Philanthropy Program is

developed at Northern Kentucky University.

• 2002 Inspired by this program, Mr. Roger Grein expands program to other colleges and universities. There are currently 16 participating institutions.

• 2008 Mr. Grein decides to develop the program at the high school level. A partnership with the Mayerson Foundation takes place.

• 2008/9 Eight local school are invited to participate in the Pilot Program.

• 2009 The program faces new challenges…

On behalf of the Trustees of the Manuel D. and Rhoda Mayerson Foundation, thank you to the educators and students who participated in this first High School Student Philanthropy Pilot Program. Next year will mark the tenth year that the Mayerson Foundation has supported student philanthropy. Our program at Northern Kentucky University has been one of the most influential programs of its kind in the country. We believe philanthropy is a way of asking, “What are the strengths and opportunities in my community?, How can I play a role in making my community a better place?” Today, you have fulfilled a part of your role and we are pleased to have been able to help make that possible. We hope this is another beginning for you; one in which you use your time, treasure and talent to make the world a better place. As the first pilot in a new program, we thank you for being Pioneers of Philanthropy. We encourage you to share your thoughts about the program with us.
