Sida and Statistics Sweden
• Sida has entered into a framework agreement with Statistics Sweden based on our uniqueness, e.g., no one else in Sweden could provide the same services as us.
• In short this means that Sida is providing money for us to give technical support to capacity building in the Western Balkans and elsewhere in the world.
Beneficiary countries
• Albania• Bosnia and Herzegovina• Kosovo• Macedonia• Montenegro, and • Serbia.
INSTAT Albania
• New three-year bilateral cooperation project with INSTAT focused on:• Management• Agriculture and evironment statistics• Economic statistics• Social statistics• Statistical methodology, and• ICT

Regional project
• The Sida funded regional project complements the bilateral projects.
• Includes all beneficiary countries.• Current project phase runs from 2013 – 2016 and
includes the following components:• Regional Statistics Committee• Environment statistics • Summer School• Survey methodology• Gender statistics.
Added value of regional projects
• The added value of a regional project is the sharing of experience between NSIs with common problems and context.
• We also encourage more devoleped NSIs in the region to support less developed NSIs through study visits and participation of local experts in workshops.
• Engaging the NSIs in the implimention of the project is key to sustainability and also an expected outcome of the project.
Results from previous projects
• Developed competence to produce Environmental statistics
• Sustainable knowledge base in Survey methodology by training over one hundred young statisticians.
• Young statisticians have improved their writing skills and their ability to speak in English in public and to engage in debate through participation in the Summer School.
• Capacity to conduct time use surveys.• Women and Men booklets• Gender-based violence• Gender pay gap
