November 14, 2013 Course: EDUC 101 Brief Description : For this
assignment I made a power point that describes the cause and
effects of school violence and the major impact it plays in the
development of todays youth. Rationale: To show my understanding of
Standard #9 I provided documentation of the causes and effects of
school violence and how it can play a major effect on the teacher
and the school atmosphere itself.

- School Violence can account for school bullying and
insignificant behavior that make students unsafe at schools. School
Violence is an issue that can be very difficult to actually pin
point what actually causes it. It is at an all time high and needs
to be addressed sooner than later for the better and well being of
our nation.

- Approximately 35% of U.S homes of children under the of 18 have
at least 1 fire arm in their home according to a study done by the
University of Southern California of Medicine There is roughly 11
million children with an at home fire arm.

- Statistics state that 77% of all students are being bullied in
one way or another. Of the 77% of students that are being bullied
14% have a severe reaction causing depression, poor self- esteem
and anxiety which can ultimately lead to taking action in a very
negative way.

- Parents are not home as much as they use to be due to the
demand of both parents needing to work in todays current economic
needs. When parents fail to give proper nourishing and influence
positive behavior to their children it will often develop into
negative and violent behavior problems. Presence of parental
alcohol abuse and domestic violence may encourage a child to follow
in his/her parents foot steps

the community School violence seems to rise as communities undergo
change size, economic well being as well as racial and ethnic
mix

- About 90 percent of U.S. kids ages 8 to 16 play video games,
and they spend about 13 hours a week playing them A new study
suggests virtual violence in these games may make kids more
aggressive in real life.

- Hurts the reputation of the school and forces parents to debate
on weather they should enroll their children at that school or
not.

- School violence ruins the school atmosphere by disrupting the
studies of the classroom and other school activities. Creates a lot
of tension in the classroom preventing students from concentrating
on their studies.

- Has a negative effect on the development of our nation. It is
very important for our government to find ways to end school
violence to make sure the future of our nation is looking
bright.

- Should our schools have armed security and how much is too
