OUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS TO…
We offer our prayers and condolences to the family and

consolation in the loving arms of the Lord.

And a voice came from the heavens, saying, “This is my beloved Son, with
whom I am well pleased.” — Matthew 3:17 Two thoughts come to mind when read-
ing this. First, God, Our Father, is so generous, that he gave his only son,
whom he really loves, to us so that we can have eternal life with him in heaven.
God, Our Creator, really loves us, too! Second, Jesus was obedient to his
Father’s will, even to the point of death. This is a reminder that our own lives are pure gifts from God and, as His stewards, we
are meant to serve God and others.

December 19, 2019 Reverend Marty Pham Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church PO Box 309 Damon, TX 77430-0309 Dear Father Pham, This letter comes to you with my gratitude and congratulation for you and your parish’s generous DSF 2019 contribution. The achievement of this goal speaks of your parishioners’ dedication to the 60-plus ministries of our Archdiocese and the lives they transform. These ministries, and the parishioners of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, have enriched every aspect of this mission. Through your generosity, you have all shown the goodness of Christ by bearing fruit that will remain in thousands of lives. This year’s DSF theme, Do Not Neglect to Share What You Have, challenges us to love with the heart of Christ and to share with our neighbors. Pope Francis reminds us that “It is not enough to say we are Christians. We must live the faith, not only with our words, but with our actions.” In supporting the DSF, we are sharing what we have and bearing witness to our brothers and sisters in Christ with outward signs of mercy. Your DSF participation enables us to impact the lives of thousands of our Archdiocesan brothers and sisters through evangelizing, healing, nurturing and pastoral ministries to the Church. I am aware that for some of your parishioners, gifts came with sacrifice. The Lord reminds us that the most generous gifts are not measured by size, but from the poverty from which they come (Lk 21:3-4). Whether large or small, the generous gifts of you and the people of your parish are sustaining the mission entrusted to the Church. Therefore, again, I offer my sincere thank you for every contribution that was made. With gratitude for your priestly service to this local Church, I congratulate you for your great work in the DSF and hope we can rely on your continued support in the future. In the goodness of God, working through each of you, I remain, Fraternally yours in Christ, Daniel Cardinal DiNardo Archbishop of Galveston-Houston DND:rb

As a parish, we are grateful to those parishioners who give of their time serving in a ministry during Mass. In recent months we have experienced a significant amount of liturgical minister no-shows. The ministry schedule is published in the bulletin the weekend prior to the first weekend of the next month. Be sure to notify the parish office at (979) 742-3383 of any known scheduling issues, such as vacations, business, etc. that would make you unavailable on a certain day or time peri-od for the coming month, so the schedule may be prepared appropriately. Please report NO LATER than 15 minutes prior to the Mass start time. This will reduce the turmoil that arises in trying to find a replacement in such a very short notice. It is your responsibility to attempt to find a replacement when you are scheduled but cannot serve. A list of all the ministers and their phone numbers can be found in the Priest’s Sacristy. You can use this list to help find a replacement. If you are not assigned to help at Mass that day and would like to assist if needed, please check in before Mass begins. Appearance is important in the Church. We encourage you to always dress like you have come to do something important, that is, to worship God. That way if you need to fill in as a minister, you will be properly dressed. Thanks for doing what you are doing. It is a great service to the parish and all of the effort you make is deeply appreciated.
*If anyone is interested in volunteering for any of our ministries or have questions, please contact the Parish Office at (979) 742-3383.
