Cartas del Pastor
September 23, 2018
Dear Parishioners,
As we enter the last months of the Church year, our
readings will begin to focus more and more on the end
of the age. When we focus only on the end of the world
and fail to focus on the renewal that will take place
when the worlds are recreated into the new heavens and
the new earth, we can become discouraged and sad-
dened when we think of the end of the world. It is im-
portant to remember that when Christ comes again, He
will bring about a universal restoration and transfor-
mation of the material worlds. They will NOT disap-
pear! Below is a quotation from the Second Vatican
Council that beautifully summarizes the restoration of
the worlds that Christ will bring about when He returns.
Yours in Jesus & Mary,
Father Frank Chacon, Pastor
23 de septiembre del 2018
Estimados Feligreses,
materiales. ¡NO desaparecerán!
Padre Frank Chacon, Pastor
Your Priests Still Need Your Help!
The Catholic Diocese of Gallup is still one of the
neediest in the United States. We have no designated
home for retired clergy, nor sufficient funds for their
retirement. We still need your help. Your most gener-
ous contribution to the Priests’ Retirement Fund will
help secure these priests in their senior years.
Throughout the month of September, we will have a
Retirement Fund Campaign to raise funds for the
Good Shepherd/Priests’ Retirement Fund.
No tene-
do moderno del Concilio Vaticano II
From the Pastoral Constitution on the Church in the
Modern World of the Second Vatican Council
The foreshadowing of the new age
We do not know the time when earth and humanity
will reach their completion, nor do we know the way
in which the universe will be transformed. The world
as we see it, disfigured by sin, is passing away. But we
are assured that God is preparing a new dwelling place
and a new earth. In this new earth righteousness is to
make its home, and happiness will satisfy all the
yearnings for peace that arise in human hearts. On that
day, when death is conquered, the sons of God will be
raised up in Christ; what was sown as something weak
and perishable will be clothed in incorruption. Love
and the fruits of love will remain, and the whole of
creation, made by God for man, will be set free from
the frustration that enslaves it.
