2018 - 2019 ∙ ROOTED IN CHRIST: WE BELONG, WE BELIEVE, WE BECOME
Dear Parents/Guardians: The month of September passed quickly and, as expected, was filled with the energy and excitement which accompanies a new school year. We welcome October feeling more settled in our routines and eager to participate in the activities that the season of fall and the cooler weather make possible to enjoy. We look forward to the year, working alongside the St. Cecilia school community to build partnerships that will focus on nurturing our Catholic community, improve student learning and achievement, as well as build capacity to lead and learn. As we work together to enable our children to succeed, we enjoy a shared purpose of helping our children grow spiritually, intellectually, emotionally and socially. Each of us has an important role and contribution to make, and it is only by working as a team with your support and co-operation that we are able to accomplish the goals we set out for your children. Recognition of the TCDSB’s Virtues of the Month has been a regular practice at St. Cecilia. This year, we will continue to formally acknowledge on a monthly basis, students who through their words and actions, best exemplify those virtues. Each month, following mass at St. Cecilia’s Church, a student from each class will be called to receive a medal in honour of their commitment to living in a Christ-like manner. Students’ names and pictures will also be included in our monthly newsletter. In the coming weeks we have a number of activities and events planned, including Divisional, Regional, and City-wide Cross Country meets, Picture Day, Thanksgiving, Halloween, as well as various class excursions and workshops! We wish you and your families a safe, happy and restful Thanksgiving weekend! Regards, Stephen Dempsey Principal

SAFE DRIVING AND RESPECTFUL PARKING
A reminder to all that the parking lot is for staff only. Kindly park on the street when
visiting the school or picking up/dropping off your child.
As well, in the interest of everyone’s safety, please take extra care when driving in the
school community. Respect posted speed limits, do not park “left wheels to curb,” and
avoid blocking neighbors’ driveways, even if only for a brief moment. As well, remember
the City of Toronto’s Idling Control By-Law, which prohibits engine idling for longer than
60 seconds.

VISITING THE SCHOOL
We value the importance of making St. Cecilia a welcoming place for our parent community. This, of
course, has to be balanced with the school’s obligation to ensure a safe environment for all students.
When visiting the school, always report immediately to the office. Never travel the halls or go to
classrooms without first getting permission from the office.

We Day at Scotiabank Arena
On September 19th, Ms. Thomas and a team of Me-To-We students set out to Scotiabank Arena to participate in We Day.
