All parents want the best for their children, and when parents see their children in pain, they too experience pain. It is difficult to watch your child suffer; in the end most parents would choose to take away or take on the pain and suffering from their child. The Canaanite woman must have been so sad, scared and helpless. She watched her daughter suffer, and she could not do anything for her. She wanted her daughter to be healed and rescued from the pain that she was experiencing. The Canaanite woman was persistent. She sought out Jesus and called out to him, informing him of her daughter’s condition. At first, it seems as though Jesus is not compassionate to her plight. The disciples want to ignore her because she is not Jewish. Nevertheless, the woman persists and approaches Jesus again. She begs him to help her daughter. She recognizes Jesus as a miracle worker, a healer. The Canaanite woman’s persistent faith and deep concern for her daughter’s well-being moves Jesus to heal her daughter .He recognizes these important qualities in the woman and then heals the woman’s daughter. This is not only a statement of the woman’s care for her daughter, but it also shows that Jesus’ love goes beyond cultural boundaries. In Jesus’ time, much like today, there were many societal norms that people followed. Certain groups of people did not interact with other groups of people, ignoring them or fighting with them. Despite the protest of the disciples, Jesus acknowledges her request because her faith is great. There is no limit to God’s grace when we open ourselves up to receive it. In addition to the recognition that God’s work transcends human limits, this passage also shows us that taking care of the sick and infirm is an important part of our life of faith. Visiting the sick is one of our corporal works of mercy—those acts that we are called to do in service of others because of Christ’s love for us. Through the healing miracles, we learn that Jesus cares for the sick in body, mind, and soul; therefore, we should do the same.

Celebration of Mass
♦ Masks must be worn in Church.
♦ Please maintain social distancing. (6 feet)
♦ Purell is available in the vestibule of Church.
♦ Mass is limited to 25% capacity (about 120-140 people).
♦ Families from the same household may sit next to each other.
♦ Offertory baskets will be placed in the sanctuary on either side of the altar and in the back of church by the double doors. You may put all your first and second collection envelopes and offerings in any of the baskets.
♦ There is not to be any gathering in the vestibule before or after Mass.
♦ Please feel free to ask if you have any questions or concerns.
♦ The Church will be sanitized twice a week, on Friday and Monday, before and after weekend Masses.
Receiving Communion
♦ The communicant should come before the minister of Communion with their mask on for the dialogue (“The Body of Christ, Amen”) and then, moving to the side, lower the mask and consume the Eucharist and replace their mask.
♦ The Precious Blood WILL NOT be distributed.
♦ Parishioners will come for Communion observing at least 6 feet of distance between them as they ap-proach. The floor has markings on it.
♦ IT IS VERY STRONGLY RECOMMENDED THAT PARISHIONERS RECEIVE HOLY COMMUNION IN THE HAND. This is for the safety of the parishioner receiving Holy Communion and the minister of Holy Communion. If a parishioner wishes to receive on the tongue they should come forward at the end of the Communion line so they are the last ones receiving so that the Communion ministers can disinfect their hands if need be after each person receives.
2021 MASS BOOK
The 2021 Mass Book will open on Wednesday, September 16th at 9:00 a.m.
Please wait on line outside the side door of the church and we will be meeting in the chapel in the church. Please wear a mask and maintain social distancing.
You can memorialize or honor someone in this special way! Also available will be memorials for Altar Bread, Altar Wine, Altar Candles,

Masses and memorials must be paid for at the time of booking and cannot be reserved in advance or held.
Masses will be limited to 12 per person on this date. Thank you for your cooperation!
