MORE THAN JUST SOMETHING TO DO....
HEALTHY KIDS CAMPS
For generations, YMCA Camps have provided children with rewarding experiences and a lifetime of
memories. Y Healthy Kids Camps are more than just something to do. We believe that all kids deserve the
opportunity to discover who they are and what they can achieve. That’s why, through the Y, hundreds of
local youth today are cultivating the values, skills and relationships that lead to positive behaviors, better
health and educational achievement. Y summer camp is an exciting, safe community for young people to
explore the outdoors, build self-esteem, develop interpersonal skills and make lasting friendships and memories.
The Y staff guides campers towards their goal every day by providing them with the building blocks they need to grow up healthy,
caring and responsible. Forming new friendships, trying new things, becoming self-reliant and reaching personal goals helps to
create a summer that your child will always remember.
Y day camps are committed to building strong and healthy bodies through nutrition activities and daily physical activities. Friday
campers will try their hand at gardening as they venture to The Community’s Garden each week. Campers will learn how what we
eat aff ects how we feel and they will learn what plants need to grow. Campers also have the opportunity to get moving with games,
sports skills, swimming, dancing, yoga, team challenges and more!
As a leader in aquatics, the Y is committed to helping every child learn to swim. Several camps provide FREE swim lessons as part
of the weekly curriculum. Every day campers will receive a nutritious lunch FREE through the Summer Food Program. To fi nd out more about our summer camps, please refer to the Summer Healthy Kids Camp Guide!

PARENTS........ARE YOU LOOKING FOR SOMETHING FUN TO DO WITH YOUR KIDS?
Everyone knows the YMCA has outstanding programs available to everyone in the community, something

during your busy schedule just kicking back and playing in the pool, going down the waterslide, enjoying the
whirlpool or sauna, playing basketball, or enjoying the Prime Time Center with your family.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDEDOne of the better-known benefi ts of volunteering is the impact on the community. Volunteers are often the
glue that holds a community together. Volunteering allows you to connect to your community, make new friends and make it a better place. However, volunteering is a two-way street, and it can benefi t you and your
family as much as the cause you choose to help. Volunteering also strengthens your ties to the community and broadens your support network, exposing you to people with common interests, neighborhood
resources, and fun and fulfi lling activities.

EXERCISING WITH PARKINSON DISEASE & PARKINSON RELATED SYNDROMESAn exercise group geared toward individuals with Parkinson Disease (PD) and Parkinson Related Syndromes (PRS) may be
just what you are looking for! These exercise groups are designed and led by a physical therapist with experience working
with individuals that have PD or PRS.
The hour long class is split into half-hour sessions. The fi rst 30 minutes will be spent on stretching with a focus on trunk mobility. During
the other 30 minutes, participants will walk on a treadmill. The theory behind this program is that improved trunk mobility combined with
an aerobic conditioning program should lead to improvement or maintenance of functional activities
used in everyday life. New participants are always welcome. Wear comfortable clothes, athletic shoes
and bring a water bottle to class. If you have any questions please call Carl (PT), or Shawn (PTA), at
Ministry Door County Medical Center Rehab Services (920) 746-0410.
A physical therapist evaluation is required prior to registration (in most cases this evaluation is covered by Medicare or insurance). Contact Ministry Door County Medical Center Rehab Services for information (920) 746-0410.

EXERCISING WITH PARKINSON DISEASE & PARKINSON RELATED SYNDROMESAn exercise group geared towards individuals with Parkinson Disease (PD) and Parkinson Related Syndromes (PRS) may be just what
you are looking for! These exercise groups are designed and led by a physical therapist with experience working with individuals
with PD or PRS.
Thirty minutes will be spent on stretching, with a focus on trunk mobility. The other thirty minutes,
participants will walk on a treadmill. The theory behind this program is that improved trunk mobility
combined with an aerobic conditioning program should lead to improvement or maintenance of
functional activities used in everyday life. New participants are always welcome. Please set up an
initial evaluation with Carl, PT, or Shawn, PTA, at Ministry Door County Medical Center Rehab Services
(920) 746-0410. Class is held at the YMCA Northern Door Program Center, and Carol Ash is the physical therapist who
leads the class.
A physical therapist evaluation is required prior to registration (in most cases this evaluation is covered by Medicare or insurance). Contact Ministry Door County Medical Center Rehab Services for information (920) 746-0410.
