Windows Mobile based KFM devices.

5 Managing /Supporting devices
5.1 Adding a Device Group or Country
Device groups allow Administrators and/or Supervisors to organize groups of devices based on their
location (country) or function (test user). Device groups also allow us to perform actions on an entire group
of devices by simply selecting the group in the device tree. It is also possible to select individual devices.
Settings and rules are inherited based on the group structure. Hence, subgroups and devices belonging to
a parent group are automatically provisioned with the rules assigned to the parent group.
To add and/or configure groups in the device tree, select the Devices tab under Android Plus and right-click
an item in the device tree.
Hovering over “Manage Group” will open another dropdown with more options.
This will allow you to either rename or delete an existing Device Group or add a new Device Group.
Clicking on ”Add Group” will add a new folder to the Devices Tree and allows you to fill in an appropriate
name.
Note: Enrollment ID’s are not created in this menu. For this please refer to the ”Rules” tab.

Once you select ”Create Add Device Rule”, the setup wizard will be displayed.
Here you will be able to give it a name. Press next to continue.

updates as we add more security measures. In the test fase we select ”No password required” and leave
the check box for ”Terms and Conditions” unchecked.
The following step will ask you where to download the Device Agent from. In this case we will download
them directly from the MobicControl Server:
Under device name we currently use the following format. This may be subject to change as we roll out
more devices.
After giving a proper device name to the Device Rule we are greeted with a summary. Here you can review
your selections before finishing the wizard. When done select ”Finish”. Note that MobiControl will

5.3 Deploying packages to devices
The following steps describe how you can deploy packages onto mobile devices.
5.3.1 Creating a package
A package is usually an application for use on your mobile device. The package will compress the APK and
all the data in one compressed file.
MobiControl provides a tool called Package Studio that allows you create packages. It will also allow you to
add scripts that get automatically executed at various points in the installation or uninstallation of the
package.
In the Packages tab under Android Plus you will be able to create, edit or delete new packages. This is
done by right-clicking in the Package tree:
Note: By selecting ”Download Package Studio” it will prompt you to install Package Studio. From there you
can make Package Projects with custom data and/or scripts.
Adding a package is done by pressing ”Browse” and navigating to the .APK file on your computer.
Once done MobiControl will automaticly name the package and add a version number.
5.3.2 Deploying a package
The following steps describe how you can use MobiControl to deploy packages onto mobile devices.
Right-click on ”Package Deployment” and select ”Create package Deployment Rule”. This will start a new
wizard.
Begin by adding a name for your new rule. Typically they start with Deploy <App name> <Version>
<Comment> (i.e. Deploy KFF v1.19 QA).

6 Package Directory
All SOTI packages are currently stored in one central location.
Given the correct rights, you can access the server on the following address:
\\eudvmmskfm007\KONE SMT.
You can do this by copying the address in any Windows Explorer window.
Alternatively you can add the address to your network locations. Do this by opening ”My Computer” and
right click in an empty field and select ”Add a network location”.
Copy and paste the address in the empty field and click on ”Next”.
In the next window you are able to give the location a custom name. For convenience you can name it
”KONE SMT”.
After clicking ”Next” you have succesfully added a Network Location which will now appear in the ”My
Computer” and making it easy to access in the future.
Note: Make sure you copy the MobiControl Packages to your local location on your laptop to edit the
package. If you do not copy first and try to edit the package on the server, you will receive an error
message when you build the package. After you are done make sure you overwrite and copy the new
package file on the server.
