MINISTRY MORSEL. October is super Bush Church Aid Society (BCA) month for our parish. In October the bi annual conference for BCA Field Staff is being held on the Gold Coast. This is a special gathering for Field Staff and their families, many of whom serve in very isolated ministries. The benefit of this location is that it brings our BCA mission partners within visiting distance. We are taking full advantage of this. On Sunday October 9, Geoff and Tracey Piggott will be involved in both our morning services. Geoff will be the preacher for the day. For some in our parish family it will be the first opportunity you have had to meet Geoff & Tracey personally and hear firsthand of their ministry in Coober Pedy. On Sunday October 23 Peter and Lee Caspersonn will be sharing in both the services. I’m not completely sure how our link with Peter and Lee began but in recent years it has deepened through regular communication with our Mission Secretary, the personal visit Leone and I made during our Long Service Leave and a keener awareness of the fruit that is growing from their persistent, faithful presence in the south western NSW town of Hay. Through a growing number of BCA boxes, financial support from the parish budget and ongoing prayer support our partnership with BCA is growing. With our current seeking of support for a Young Families Minister that partnership may well have an added dimension to it.

be healed. The prayer of the righteous is powerful and effective. James 5:16
COLLECT: O God, from whom light rises in darkness for those who seek you: grant us, in all our doubts and uncertainties, the grace to ask what you would have us do, that in your light we may see light, and in your narrow path may not stumble; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. Our Father, we love to hear you speak to us, and so we are eager to hear your Word. Please help us by your Spirit to listen to you as your Word is now read and soften our hearts so that we might know you better and love you more. Amen.

CMS Paul Sampson Nairobi Kenya: Paul has just returned from his sixth trip ‘up country’ to Isiolo (7 hours from Nairobi)
where he has taught long intensives of the Preliminary Theological Certificate (PTC) course. This arrangement has worked well for pastors in rural areas who simply cannot afford to attend Bible college. Many of these pastors have not otherwise had any kind of theological training - most of their week is spent farming their little plot of land to feed their family and survive. (Anne)

SAMPSON UPDATE. Paul and Cathy Sampson, Marsden, Anastasia and Geneva are
currently serving with the Church Missionary Society in Kenya. They are our CMS Mission
Partners. The Sampson’s are due home for their scheduled break at the end of the year.
During the week Paul emailed us to indicate that after a great deal of prayer and
conversations they have decided to resign from CMS and not return to Kenya in 2017. They
value our prayers as they prepare to leave the people and ministries that have been central to
their lives in the past 6 years. We anticipate that they will visit the parish early in the new year
which will give us opportunity to thank them for the partnership we have in the Lord’s work.
David will have discussions with CMS about potential new Mission Partners so we are able to
continue to play an active part in the spread of the gospel throughout the world.
DIOCESAN NEWS. Bishop Sarah has announced the appointment of Rev Stuart Webb as the
new Rector of Port Macquarie. Currently Stuart is the Rector of Kawana Waters in the Diocese
of Brisbane. Stuart and his family will be moving to Port Macquarie early in the new year.
BISHOP SARAH: has asked that the following be included in our Parish Newsletter. ‘As part of
our efforts to make good the wrongs of the past the Diocese has paid settlements to people
who were abused in the life of the church. To do this a loan currently totalling over $2 million
has been taken out. As a Diocese we are now trying to repay this loan and build a fund from
which any future claims can be paid. This means that we are sharing the burden together as the
body of Christ rather than asking individual parishes to bear the cost of payments for abuse that
occurred in that parish. Bishop Sarah is meeting with each parish to discuss their support.
Contributions from parishioners are also welcomed and can be made either through the parish
or directly to the following bank account: Diocesan Financial Challenge 2016
