2.1 General safety information
Note
Failure of the safety function
Common cause failures, subsequently called CCF, cause the failure of the safety func
tion, since in this case both channels in a two-channel system fail simultaneously.
If measures to control the CCFs are not observed, the safety function of the soft-start/
quick exhaust valve can be impaired.
Make sure that the described measures for managing the CCFs are observed
( 3.2 Common cause failures (CCF) and 15.1 Safety characteristics).
Note
Failure of the safety function
Failure to observe the technical data can result in the failure of the safety function.

7.2 Pneumatic installation
7.2.1 Port 1 and 2
If using fittings with width across flats greater than SW24:
Remove the cover cap MS6-END, if present (slide upwards).
If using fittings:
Note the permissible screw-in depth of the connecting thread is 10 mm.
For greater screw-in depths, use the port plates MS6-AG…/AQ… from Festo.
 Do not use particle-emitting sealants.
7.2.2 Port 3
When bleeding off a system through the MS6-SV-D, high sound pressure levels are generated.
We therefore recommend that you use a silencer.
The use of a commercially available silencer is possible. However, it must be able to bleed off as well as
safety silencer UOS-1 ( 15.2 General data).
Note
Failure of the safety function
When using a commercially available silencer, the silencer may become clogged, which
can result in reduced bleeding. This can lead to complete failure of the safety function
(increased residual pressure in the system after bleeding off ).
Use the safety silencer UOS-1 designed for the device
( 13 Accessories and spare parts).
