(17/11) LEADERSHIP MTG. ACTION POINTS‘USE OF SOCIAL MEDIA’--------- ****For discussion at SA-NATCON****
- Membership encouraged to maintain active use of social media;
- Membership should be judicious re. interaction with - Membership should be judicious re. interaction with social media. Specifically:
- Avoid humour, frivolous and trivial (non-political) posts; - Minimise interaction with other political tendencies; - Do not engage in ‘trolling’, abuse or threats; - Assist comrades, esp. newer comrades to abide by SA social media guidelines; - Support comrades in social media use (e.g, ‘like’ comrades posts and comments, ‘retweet’ etc.); - Participate fully in organised social media campaigning (or remind/prompt comrades to do so) - Actively discuss Facebook use; discuss regularly how best to adhere to SA social media guidelines, review lapses. - Avoid social media use during backlash; consult with comrades & leadership before resuming SM use. - Treat social media the same as interaction with the public. Avoid ultraleft statements, respect democratic centralism, do not waste energy that could be redirected towards activism etc.
