Expected Behaviors for Listening

Listening means:

Keeping your ears open

Keeping your mouth closed

Keeping your eyes on the speaker (the person talking)

Your ears need to be open and focused to hear what others are saying to you

and be ready to respond.

Your mouth should be closed so you are not talking at the same time as

someone else.

Mouth closed

Your eyes need to be on the speaker so you can see their facial expression

and how they use their body.

Listening is very important in school.

Listening is very important at home.

Listening is very important in the community.

It is important for us to use expected listening behaviors.

Listening makes the people around us feel respected and calm.
