Taking interactivity to the next level
…on social media!
A couple of years ago…
Creating a Facebook page or a twitter account was just a part of a marketing activity checklist!
Next phase: Talking to fans
Brands started posting content on the pages, since they were created! However, the content was mostly random
Next phase: Strategy?
Brands started looking for ROI and hence a strategy for interactions with fans
And then….
What eventually came out was contests exploiting virality of comments, likes and sending friend requests
But then….
Facebook realized that such contests are not ‘social’ enough
And they also impacted Facebook ads revenue!
Hence…
A number of changes made by Facebook, led to changes like
• Facebook Edge• New Timeline (focus on images)
And some features are lined up like • Facebook Offers• Reach Generator
What should we look forward for?
Way forward
• Strategies with a differentiation to break free from the clutter
• Mainline ad campaigns having appropriate extensions on social and digital space
And most importantly…• Engagements with innovational interactivity

• An application that will help us find the biggest fan of Mumbai Indians
• The users needs use a microphone to record a shoutout for their favorite team
• Using sound recognition technology, a sound meter gets updated on the application
• Users can share their shoutouts, challenge their friends, etc which will create virality

• Guys can send messages to their friends
• Girls can send back a like if their like their message with a swing!

• The girls who get messages can respond back to them
• They need to allow the application which will access their webcams
• The swing (marked in the picture) will move left and right as the users move his head from left and right (with head-recognition technology)
• A nod from users will send out a ‘like’ for the messages sent!

Other major factors• Video strategy – Webisodes, reviews, virals, teasers, etc.
• Images strategy – Templeted images, captions, funny images.
• Sentiment analysis – With a number of posts, tweets, responses, etc shared on the internet, analyzing that data will create immense value for clients
• Online reputation management – With customer awareness index going up, managing reputation online, will become all the more important
• Brand Loyalists – Creating loyalists for the brand who will amplify the brands message further will become all the more important, as experienced today, even a star like Sachin Tendulkar’s tweet about Airtel calling on this birthday backfired!
