Organization in Chaos
Social Knowledge Platform(Delicious & Diigo)
Why bookmarking? There are great Web 2.0 resources for the
classroom, with new tools appearing all the time and others disappearing. I'd love to hear how folks manage them - how do you assess new tools, organize them, share them with teachers and students at your schools, etc. Mary Beth B
Your networkI make use of Diigo, my own account and
the groups in Diigo like http://groups.diigo.com/group/classroom20
I am a firm believer in social bookmarking. Judith R
Cut and paste links In the past we copied links to MS Word, problem with
categorization, updating, removing, ‘paper-based’ retrieval,
singular lens…

Sharing bookmarksMany sites now embed bookmark links or
RSS feeds.
Delicious and Diigo
Use TagsA tag is simply a word you can
use to describe a bookmark. Unlike folders, you make up tags when you need them and you can use as many as you like. The result is a better way to organize your bookmarks and a great way to discover interesting things on the Web.
Use of Tags: Content ThreadsCan be used by all constituents (students
to admin), from individual to group collections
Independent contributors to shared tagAsynchronous or in synchronous learning
mediums Archive collectionsAnother expert filter
Flickr tags
Browser widget
Place buttons in browser which makes tagging and collection of tagged items easy.
Diigo toolbar(more than a social bookmarking tool)
Multiple views
Tag Teams: MathDelicious as an alternative search engine. You
can search by the tag to view a collection gathered by other users with that particular tag. i.e. math7

Improves time management and workflow
Continual LearningAs we expand our use of cloud computing,
use of tagging and social bookmarking tools gain relevance
This is an essential skill for our PLETools that archive and pull content are
replacing push and manual search toolsHunting and gathering aggregators are key
skills in navigating cloud sources
AffordancesInteraction on resources through tags,
comments and annotations, Aggregation or resources through use of tags,
user or groups
Part of my personal learning and knowledge management system
You can create an archiveIf you still need the links the traditional
route.. You can EXPORT (key to sustainability) to an .html file.
