Purpose Balance the rights of individuals to

convey messages through signs with the right of the public to …,be protected from potential harm, promote health, safety ,welfare, protect property values and protect community environmental setting and appearance in support of each zoning district.

Applicability& Nonconforming signs

Ordinance regulation. If conflict arises then the more

restrictive regulation governs. Nonconforming signs requiring repair

or other maintenance in excess of 50% of its replacement cost may not be rebuilt, repaired, or otherwise maintained, except in compliance with this Code.

Board of Adjustments. BOA decisions are based on sign type,

existence of signs in general area, the degree of change taking place, the location of request as well as the duration…,

The BOA must also consider the effect that the exception has on the general plan of regulating signs within in the city.
