Introduction
If you are moving into a new house, the Resettlement Team can provide you with the help and support you need to set up home. If you are an existing Stockport Council tenant, the Tenancy Support Service can help you maintain your tenancy.
Aims of Resettlement and Tenancy Support
• Tosupportyouthroughamajorchangeinlifestyle.
• Tomakesurethatyouraccommodationissuitable, you can cope with it, and you’re settling into the community.
• Toco-ordinatethesupportyougetfromuswith support from other agencies.
• Topreventyourtenancybreakingdown.• Topreventthecycleofhomelessness,

Do I qualify for Resettlement?
You can apply if you are a tenant of StockportCouncil, a Registered Social Landlord (RSL), ora private landlord, and you are in one of thefollowing groups:
• careleavers;• loneteenageparents;• youngpeople(upto21)inafirsttenancy;• refugees;• peoplefleeingdomesticviolence;• singlehomelesspeople;• homelessfamilies;• newtenants;• peoplewithlearningdifficulties;• peoplewithmentalhealthproblems;• peoplewithdrugproblems;or• peoplewithalcoholproblems.
Our service could be available for you if youneed support for one or more of these reasons.

How will you help me?
• You’llhaveanexperiencedOfficertohelpwith all housing needs.
• YouandtheOfficerwillworkoutasupportplan and put it in writing.
• We’llprovideapackageofvisitsandsupport, and check every month that it still meets your needs.
• Adrop-inserviceatthetemporaryaccommodationschemes*.
• Ageneraldrop-inserviceeveryafternoonatourofficeat1St.Peter’sSquare(ifwehave to change the time or place, we’ll put up notices about it).
• Afterthesupportpackagehascometoan end, you can still use our service by phoningorvisitingouroffice.
• Wewillalwaystakeyourviewsintoaccount, as we aim to help you decide what service and support you need, and provide it from day one.
