GoalsDiscuss who and what is in a

community.Learn how a community is designed and create one.

ProblemGas prices are too high!

We need a community that we can use with out vehicles!

We need you to re-create a community that is close and “walkable” for it’s members.

Who and what is in a community?

GoalsLearn about two dimensional shapes and three dimensional

shapes.Design and create a plan and model of a building with these

shapes.

Small Group GoalsAs a group you must decide which part of

the community you feel is important. That will be the part of the community that your group will be in charge of creating. Write a letter to your community partner asking for more information about their

job and building.

Model how to write a friendly letter with the class.

More Small Group GoalsEach group member will design a

blueprint for their building using two-dimensional shapes.

The group will decide on a blueprint and build this part of

the community using three dimensional shapes.

In the end, all small groups will combine their buildings to create

one large community.

Final ProjectAll small groups will combine their

part of the community to create one three-dimensional community.

This geometric community will be presented at a “Town Meeting.”

The final community model will also be put on display at City Hall for the

public to view.
