So [in order] to keep me from

2 Corinthians 12:7

becoming conceited because of the surpassing greatness of therevelations, a thorn was given mein the flesh…

…a thorn was given me in the flesh,

2 Corinthians 12:7

a messenger of Satan to harass me,to keep me from being conceited.

Three times I pleaded with the Lord

2 Corinthians 12:8

about this, that it should leave me.

But he said to me, “My grace is

2 Corinthians 12:9

sufficient for you, for my power ismade perfect in weakness.”

Therefore I will boast all the more

2 Corinthians 12:9

gladly of my weakness, so that thepower of Christ may rest upon me.

For the sake of Christ, then, I am

2 Corinthians 12:10

content with weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions, and calamities. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

Embracing your weakness is a prerequisite to

experiencing Christ’s power.

Main Idea

1

Embrace weakness

“And he…knelt down and prayed, saying, ‘Father, if you are

willing, remove this cup from me….

~ Jesus of Nazareth Gospel of Luke (22:41-42)

“And he…knelt down and prayed, saying, ‘Father, if you are

willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will be done, but

yours be done.”~ Jesus of Nazareth

Gospel of Luke (22:41-42)

“Therefore let those who suffer according to God’s will entrust

their souls to a faithful Creator while

doing good.”

~ The Apostle Peter in 1 Peter 4:19

“You have the option to view this as a gift with a purpose

and a promise.”

~ Andy Stanley

2 Learn contentment.

~ The Apostle Paul in Philippians 4:11-13

“…I have learned in whatever situation I am to be content. I know how to be brought low and how to abound. In any and every

circumstance, I have learned the secret of facing

plenty and hunger, abundance and need. I can do all things through Christ

who strengthens me.”

3

Rest in Grace

“Thro’ many dangers, toils, and snares, I have already

come; T’was grace that brought me safe thus far, and

grace will lead me home.

“”~ “Amazing Grace” by John Newton
