I have seven years experience in architecture with specialties in Libraries, Schools, Interior Design, Programming, Environmental design, and feasibility studies. I have work with public project entities such as LACCD, LABOD, LAUSD, LA METRO, and the Port of Los Angeles. I hold a Bachelors of Architecture from California State University Pomona (2007). I am also LEED AP and have carry out LEED silver certified projects. My current position is “designer and project coordinator” at IBI Group, an international firm with 78 offices worldwide.
I can generate project deliverables from schematic to construction documents and I am also capable of coordinating with project consultants. I am familiar with Building Codes and understand technical documentation. Most importantly, I am a good team member and can work independently. I have worked as key project coordinator for a wide range of projects, including Southeast Branch Library in San Jose, Bailey Library in East Los Angeles College, Walnut Park Elementary, and Carnival Cruise Terminal to name a few.
My primary role at IBI encompasses all aspects of project delivery including concept design, schematic design, design development, environmental design strategies, full construction documents, and construction observation. I am capable of identifying the projects parameters and analyze objectives. I can generate multimedia project presentations and have verbal skills to convey concepts. I am also fully capable to generate 2D and 3D documents. I am proficient in various software platforms such as Adobe CS, Aftereffects, Autocad 2014, Revit, 3D Studio Max, Rhinoceros 3d with parametric plugging Grasshopper, and SketchUp.
On top of my architectural work, my extracurricular activities include being a co-founder of Aphidoidea, a design and art collective. I have created several site specific Art Installations that function as investigational thesis that engage the senses, and use unconventional materials. We have recently finished an installation for the Regional Transportation Department - Light Rail (Denver, Colorado) for Red Rocks Community College light rail station. We have also been commissioned to create an Art Installation for Coachella Valley Music and Art Festival 2013, Burning Man 2012-2013, and Santa Monica Glow 2013. This of course, is a creative and experimental outlet, in which, I apply to architecture directly and indirectly. I have worked with community art revitalization programs such as: Long Beach Arts Council, Inner City Arts, Flux, and Phantom Galleries, Boca Raton Museum of Art and the YMCA.
I am a creative design enthusiast, hard worker, problem-solver, detail obsessed, responsible and reliable. I am passionate about design, ideas, collaboration, and most important of all learning. I believe that architecture, and an architect’s responsibilities, extend beyond the project’s scope of work. I view design as a holistic process that encompass all aspect of one’s surroundings; environment, social, cultural, political, and economical landscapes. In which, all of these entities should be examined as origins, visual, tactile, and conceptual opportunities for each project.

WALNUT PARK ELEMETRAY
Wallnut park elementary consisted of five buildings ona 2.5 acre site. Two small learning communities buildings adjacent to each other; a multi purpose building which includes a gym, teather, admin, music and dance classrooms. A library, cafeteria and maintenance building. And an enclosed garage with basketball courts on the rooftop. The middle school has a student capacity of 1024.

Hellen Miller Bailey Library located in East Los Angeles College, part of LACCD.The library was originally built in the 70’s and consisted of heavi massing with flutted concrete. The library was expanded to 54,000 sf nearly doubleling in size. There was also a complete remodeling of the interior and upgrades to the mechanical and electrical systems, as well as ADA compliance updates. The library is LEED certified

LOS ANGELES TRADE TECH COLLEGEBUILDING AA histoical retrofit and addition to the exisitng building. The added glass lobby serves as a gallery space for the display of student work from the two classroms wings. Design with point supported glass, the aestetics were influence by a fusion of the existing historical caracter and the modern steel and glass look.

CARNIVAL CRUISE LINESHADED CANOPIES & VIP LOUNGE
Located at the historical Howard Huges Spruce Goose’s Dome at the Long Beach Marina, and adjacent to the Queen Mary Ship. The Carnival Cruise Line canopy extensions and VIP lounge were design to accomodate the overgrowing number of cruise passengers that will have to wait to embark. The series of staggered canopies were design in a dynamic fashion in order to reflect the cheerfulness of the cruise line as well as the juxtapos of the historical elements in the site

LACCD HEAD QUARTERS TI
Compete ground floor remodel of the Los Angeles Community College Distric head quartes office. Some of the major challenges were to desire to bring exterior light to the work area at the center of the buidling, as well as the existing buiilding utility and communications lines going thorugh the space. Our desing approach created a series of soffits and overhead transoms in order to satisfy the design requirements and be able to achieve a modern yet formal aesthetic.

IBI GROUP LOS ANGELES OFFICE TI
The Los Angeles IBI branch relocated to a historic building in Downtown Los Angeles. The design intent was to create a clean modern look with energetic color accents. The exposed brick and concrete ceilings were part of the design intent and serve to aleviate the low ceiling height and historical presense.

(B) LIVING SKINThe “Living Skin” is a floating grid system that provides support for several sustainable applications that will enhance the buildings appearance and environmental character. The grid can support open metal link fabric for a green wall solution; Eco-Screen, perforated screen walls for reduced light pollution; vertical and/or horizontal louver for heat gain reduction as well as solar photovoltaic panels for energy production.
(C) PLUG-ONSTwo elements can be added above the lower level glazing to provide shade and weather protection. The first is an eyebrow attached to the face of the building from which it projects three feet. The second is a free standing canopy which could be used as either an entry or a lunch shelter.
(A) UPPER LEVELFENESTRATIONA eight foot strip fenestration system borders all flexible areas of the upper level rising from a three foot sill to 11 feet. The system is adaptable from the manufacturer to provide fixed and operable windows, solid insulated panels, and shading eyebrows.
(D) LOWER LEVELFENESTRATIONAn adaptable window wall system is used which not only can be customized for interior uses, but can be changed without extensive reconstruction. This would allow for example for the addition or elimination of doors as uses change. The system employs a “stick” system which allows the verticals to be removed changing the infill and is nine feet high.

The exterior skin is designed to adapt to a wide variety of conditions for the building. Use of exterior compo-nents helps to protect the building from climatic and orientation issues. The flexibility of the systems and com-ponents also encourage the flexibilty of the interior space of the building. The wide range of finishes and fenestration patterns offered will help the building to seemlessly blend in with any existing campus aesthetic.

Semifinalist for the modular design competition held by LAUSD. Our proposal consisted of a core and shell buidling that was adaptable on the inside to house multiple specific programs, and on the outside to house multiple exterior applications to adapt to the site and orientation and specific use on the interior.

GROUND LEVEL FENESTRATIONSTOREFRONT SYSTEMThe exterior of flexible space on the ground floor has a nine foot high glazing system which can vary with the use. The lower floor window wall has a window wall system which can be easily changed as required. Two exit doors are located next to the core.
SECOND LEVEL FENESTRATIONRIBBON WINDOW SYSTEMThe upper floors has an eight foot high ribbon strip of glazing which also can be designed to the use inside.
HEAT PUMP MECHANICAL SYSTEMEXPANDABLE AND FLEXIBLE SYSTEMWe have chosen a fluid fed heat pump system for its space efficiency and adaptability. Heat pump units would be fed by hot and water from a boiler and cooling tower on the roof. A supply air duct would be run over the corridor between the cores where the units and main piping also run.
CONCRETE SHELL AND CORE BUILDINGFLEXIBLE INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR SYSTEMSthe skin would be built convention-ally using steel studs with a thin exterior finish. While any light weight thin finish could be applied to this building, we are showing cement plaster, fiberboard, corrugated metal, and phenolic panels.
MOMENT CONNECTION STEEL STRUCTUREThe structural system is a steel moment frame system which eliminates all structural intrusions into the flexible space with the exception of three columns.

BUILDING CONFIGURATIONThe building is a two story rectangle with exterior dimensions of 80 feet by 196 feet. It has two cores at the corners containing stairs, toilets, mechanical/electrical rooms, janitors closets and storage. The space between is open loft space interrupted only by three structural columns..
BUILDING SIZEThe “sweet spot”: We felt it was crucial that there only be two stair cores with open space in between. The size of the the building is therefore the maximum allowable area for occupancy on the second floor without adding a third stair by code. This would limit the upper floor to 500 occupants at 20 sf per occupant plus circulation, wall thick-ness and services. Since the most common use for the second level will be teaching space, there could be up to 10,000 sf of occupiable space. This would allow a maximum of ten conventional classroom/lab spaces without adding a third stair and determined the optimum size of our building.
The basic building shell will be common to all applications. It will have the same configuration, structural system and building systems. This basic shell will be able to be pre-checked by DSA and will not vary in later applications. With each appli-cation the building will have an interior layout and exterior skin application to adapt it to its use and site conditions.
BUILDING VOLUMEWe have configured floor to floor heights generously to allow for a variety of uses. The lower floor has a fourteen foot floor to floor to allow a larger volume for larger spaces. The roof slopes in a single slope to control runoff. The highest volumes are over the larest potion of the flexible volume. The lowest volumes are over the cores to hide roof mounted equipment with the highest parapet.

THROUGH THE CATTAILS
Art installation for the Coachella Music and Art Festival 2013. The inspiration derives from the environment created by a field of cattails. Similar to the wild cattails, the piece is designed to flex with the wind creating a simple harmonic motion. This installation consists of 97 coroplast hexagon abstract cattail. Each cattail has a column made out of a telescoping 2” diameter emt pipe, its own light module controlled by a networked microcontroller that will gradually array multiple colors. During the day, relax under the cattails by its gentile sway and shade. And at night, lounge under its canopy and its ambience of ever changing animated light.

LOOK AHEAD
Artwork created for the Red Rocks College Station in Lakewood, Colorado. The two large undulating planes suggest the motion of arriving and departure. while one shape suggests the “Arriving” to the station, the other shape implies “Departing” into a journey. This station is the exchange place for knowledge, diversity and opportunity. The college provides knowledge, the community and the station provide diversity, and the two combined provide opportunities for all. This is the reciprocity of intellect, diversity, and opportunity between the campus, Lakewood, the broader community, and the world. Knowledge obtain, knowledge gained and knowledge given.
