Searching Chinese books in NTU Library Catalogue

1. Go to the Library website at http://www.ntu.edu.sg/library/Pages/default.aspx

2. Select Unicode (UTF-8) in View-Encoding before entering any Chinese keyword.

3. Change the Default Input Language to CH at the bottom of the screen.

4. Click Books & Videos.

Keyword Search

5. In Keyword search, type in the search box, e.g. 中华艺术通史. Both simplified and traditional

characters records will be retrieved.

Alternately, you may also type in the Chinese phonic s (Han Yu Pin Yin 汉语拼音), e.g.

Zhonghua yi shu tong shi. Then, Select “Title” from the drop- down list.

6. Click the title for more information about the book.

Author/Editor

7. Copy down the Call number, and the location. Look for it on the book shelves.

8. To read the information of the book in Chinese, Click the Catalog Record.

9. Click Place Hold to reserve a book on loan.

(Note: books that are not on loan do not allow the place hold action)

Browse Search

10. You may also use the Browse Search to search for similar topics or titles.

Advanced Search

11. Go to Advanced Search for a specific search.

12. You can restrict your searchers within the Chinese Collection.
