Transcript of Scrum in publishing - Sharna Sammy

My name is Sharna Sammy.

I’m a managing designer for

Oxford University Press South Africa

in Cape Town.

I Discovered

Scrum

in February of this year

through hearing about how it was

effectively being applied at

another company.

I adapted Scrum for our design studio.

This helped streamline the workload of the new school

curriculum, a rather daunting task which the entire

SA publishing industry is facing.

Scrum in

Publishing?

Other resource support I used.

Getting Things Done by David Allen

which applies the 3 basic principles:

1. Do it. 2. Delegate it. 3. Defer it.

I thought this linked in well with Scrum principles.

I won an Innovation Award

for introducing Scrum into the design studio,

at Oxford University Press.

(Unforeseen jobs that come into the workload)

I seeked further advice from those

in the Scrum community.

This provided me with some helpful advice.

One of which leads me to...

... Coaching Circles!

which I attended.

... more reading and researching

being done!

No, this is not a spider, IT IS ME !

Goals...

• gain more knowledge on Scrum

• gain practical experience of Scrum

• become a Certified ScrumMaster.

Lastly...
