and rigour

• identify learning gaps that may hinder the

progress of learning new concepts

What subjects will be tested?

All subjects (Standard and Foundation)

- English

- Mathematics

- Science

- Mother Tongue

What is the weighting

for the other exams?

Term 1 Term 2 Term 3 Term 4

0% 30% 30% 40%

The above weightings are

applicable across all subjects.

What topics will be tested

for each subject?

Information on different

subject topics will be

shared in the Assessment

Information Letters to

parents.

What happens after the test?

• Pupils needing support to

bridge the learning gap will be

identified.

• They will attend Banded

Remediation Lessons in Term 2.

• Those who are not identified

may choose to take part in

preparatory stage for selected

competitions.

What is BandedRemediation?

• Pupils are grouped according to

their areas for improvement and

targeted remediation will take place

on Monday and/or Tuesday

afternoons (from 2.15 p.m. to 3.45

• A pupil may be scheduled to attend

more than one subject for

remediation lesson.

A Typical Schedule

Day Time Subject

Monday 2.15 p.m. to 3 p.m. Science

3 p.m. to 3.45 p.m. English

Tuesday 2.15 p.m. to 3 p.m. Mathematics

3 p.m. to 3.45 p.m. Mother Tongue

will have an option to attend preparation

work for competitions.

A child may attend Banded

Remediation for a particular subject

and preparation work for another

subject.

What type of competitions

will my child go through?

• The school will identify a few

competitions such as Young

Investigators’ Award, Environment

Challenge for Schools.

• These competitions will provide

opportunities for the application of

knowledge and skills.

• Value the learning from the process (Not

to win awards)

How many competitions will

my child be allowed

to take part in?

• Every child who is deemed ready

will only be allowed to

participate in one competition

preparation to maximise

participation for the cohort.

Is my child required to pay

for the preparation/ training

or competitions?
