Welcome toElkhorn Valley and
Canyon CreekRecreation Sites
The Bureau of Land Management's ElkhornValley and Canyon Creek Recreation Sites,located in th e Little North SantiamRecreation Area , offer high qualityoppor tunities for scenic dri ving, swimming,hiking, ca mping, picnicking and fishing.
Location: From Salem, drive east on StateHwy 22, turn left on North Fork CountyRoad (approximately 24 miles east ofSalem - see map).
Ca nyon Creek is 7.3 mil es and ElkhornValley is 8.5 miles u p North ForkCou nty Road.
Drive Carefully: Traffic is high during thesummer season. Please drive carefully. Beaware of slippery roads du ring wet and icyweather.
Canyon Creek Day-use Area:Canyon Creek provides easy access to asandy beach along the Littl e NorthSantiam River. Fifte en developed picnicsites, vault restrooms, and a hand pump forpotable water are also available.
E lkh orn Valley Campgrou n d :Elkhorn Vall ey offers 24 family campsites,five picnic sites, river access t rails, walkingtrails, vault rest rooms, and water spigotsfor potable water .
* Trailer Size: Larger trailers (over 24feet in len gth) are not recommend ed formost campsites.
* Fees: A use fee is charged for allcampsites. Golden Age and Accesspassports are accepted. Fees collected are
theused to manage these sites as par t ofFee Demonst ration Program.
* Park Hosts: Volunteer camp hosts areavailable to provide information and sellfire wood during posted hours.
* Stay Limit: There is a 14-day stay limi tfor every 30-day period.
* Accessib ility: Accessibility varies bysite, please contact park staff for moreinfor mation.
* Reservations: Campsites are availableona "first-come, first-serve" basis.Reservations are not accepted. Savingcampsites is not allowed and at least oneperson must occupy the site each night.

Quiet Hou rs: Quiet hours atElkhorn Valley are from 10:00 p.m. to
8:00 a .m. Please be considerate of othercampers by reducing noise and shuttingdown generators du ring this time period.

Fires: Build fires only in thedesignated metal fire pits provid ed.
Attend your campfire at all ti mes and full yextinguish it when leavin g the campsite.
fta Firewood: Wood gathering is limitedto down and dead material one-inch
or less in diameter . Firewood is for salefrom the camp hosts during posted hours.
n Veget a tion : Nails, axe cuts andother damage to tree bark exposes
trees to disease or insect infestat ion.,Please use ropes to secure tarps or hangother items .

.m.Pets: Pets are allowed , but pleasekeep them leashed (maximum six
feet). Please dispose of any pet waste intrash receptacles .

Litter: Do your part to kee p theparks clean and lit ter-free by using
the trash rece ptacles and recycling binsprovided.

Bicycles: Bicycles are not allowed ontrails. Please use caution and
ride with the flow of traffic. Helmets forboth children and adu lts are recommended .
