3rd Sunday of Ordinary Time
Sacred Hearts Church
Sacred Hearts Parish, Malden May 31, 2020 Pentecost Sunday
2
• Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of Mass, but not more than 30 minutes prior.
• Please bring a mask with you and keep it on from when you exit your vehicle to when you enter your vehicle, after Mass.
• Children under the age of two should not wear a mask. • Parents should judge for children between the ages of two and
five whether they should wear a mask. • All people who claim an exemption because of health can
forego wearing a mask. They do not have to provide documentation.
• We advise that if you are not feeling well that you stay home for your best interest.
• The priest and others with him in the sanctuary do not need to wear masks, as long as strict socially distancing is maintained. They do have to wear masks when assisting with the distribution of Holy Communion.
• Everyone will enter from the main doors. • When waiting to enter, please use the markings to remain at
least six feet apart. • An usher will then bring you to the next available pew. People
living in the same household will be seated together. • Hand sanitizer will be available, but everyone is asked to bring
their own as well, if possible. • When the church pews in the main church have reached • capacity, we will seat people in the lower chapel for Mass.
Arriving to Mass
• There will be minimal music and no congregational singing during the Mass as we will all be wearing masks.
• For the time being, there will be no altar servers. • The priest, deacon, lector, and musician will not be wearing a
mask, while in the sanctuary, as they will maintain distance between each other and they will need to be heard by everyone. They will put on a face mask, once they are done serving.
• There will not be a sign of peace. • There will be no holding of hands during the Our Father • There must be no passing of the basket for the offertory.
Instead, baskets will be placed at the entrances of the Church. You may place your offering in the basket as you exit the Church.
During Mass
• During the consecration, hosts to be distributed will be placed on a second corporal to the side, so that they are not directly in front of the priest.
• When it is time to receive Communion, please remain in your seat until an usher asks you to enter the aisle.
• The aisles will all be marked with one-way arrows and spacing to keep six feet apart from one another.
• Everyone is asked to process to the front and back to their seats in order to preserve social distancing. If you are not prepared to receive the Eucharist, simply place your hands over your chest and continue in the line back to your seat.
• Anyone that is not physically able to walk to the front of the altar should remain in their seat, and a priest will come to you at the end of Mass, when everyone has left the church.
• When you receive communion, step forward with your mask on, hold out your hands and the priest will drop the Eucharist into your hands, step to the side, pull down you mask, put the Eucharist in your mouth, put your mask back on, and follow the aisle back to your seat.
• The priest will have a table next to him with hand sanitizer. If he touches someone's hand, he will sanitize his hands before distributing more hosts.
• The Precious Blood will not be distributed at this time.
Receiving Communion
• At the conclusion of Mass, please remain in your seat until an usher lets you know that you can leave.
• Please follow exit through the aisle that the usher shows you, immediately leaving the building and going to your vehicle.
• There will be no social gatherings before or after Mass. • The church will be cleaned immediately after each
Mass.
