Transcript of Rise and Shine We are burning daylight?

(Joh 8:1-11) Jesus went unto the mount of Olives. And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the

people came unto him; and he sat down, and taught them. And the scribes and Pharisees brought unto him a woman taken in adultery; and when they had set her in the midst,

They say unto him, Master, this woman was taken in adultery, in the very act. Now Moses in the law commanded us, that

such should be stoned: but what sayest thou? This they said, tempting him, that they might have to accuse him. But Jesus

stooped down, and with his finger wrote on the ground, as though he heard them not. So when they continued asking

him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her. And again he stooped down, and wrote on the ground. And they

which heard it, being convicted by their own conscience, went out one by one, beginning at the eldest, even unto the last:

and Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst. When Jesus had lifted up himself, and saw none but

the woman, he said unto her, Woman, where are those thine accusers? hath no man condemned thee? She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go,

and sin no more.

Rise and Shine We are burning daylight?

Why sit in the Dark…

…when you can live in the light?

(Mic 7:8) Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit

in darkness, the LORD shall be a light unto me.

(Psa 27:1) A Psalm of David. The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I

fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be

afraid?

(1Jn 1:5) This then is the message which we have

heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness

at all.

I. The symbolism of

Light

(Joh 8:12) Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am

the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the

light of life.

1. I AM the bread of life. 2. I AM the light of the world. 3. I AM the door. 4. I AM the good shepherd. 5. I AM the resurrection and the life. 6. I AM the way, the truth and the life. 7. I AM the true vine.

A. Symbolis

m in Creation

(Gen 1:3) And God said, Let there be light: and

there was light.

(Gen 1:4) And God saw the light, that it was

good: and God divided the light from the

darkness.

(2Co 5:17) Therefore if any man be in

Christ, he is a new creature: old things

are passed away; behold, all things are

become new.

(2Co 4:3-6) But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the

glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto

them. For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and

ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake. For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath

shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

(Psa 119:105) Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light

unto my path.

B. Symbolism to the Children Israel

Comparing scripture with scripture Exodus

1. The Passover lamb (12)

2. The manna from heaven (16)

3. The water from a rock (17)

4. The pillar of Fire (33)

John 1. The Lamb of God

(1)2. The Bread of Life

(6)3. The Water of Life

(7)4. The Light of the

World (8)

C. Symbolism in the Context

(Joh 8:20) These words spake Jesus in the treasury, as he taught in the temple: and no

man laid hands on him; for his hour was not yet come.

II. The Source of Light

A. Source reveals

the Condemnat

ion

(Joh 8:15) Ye judge after the flesh; I judge no man.

(Joh 8:16) And yet if I judge, my judgment is true: for I am not

alone, but I and the Father that sent me.

(Joh 3:17-21) For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but

that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not

condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only

begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that light is come

into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither

cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that doeth truth

cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought

in God.

B. Source will Cease

(Joh 8:21) Then said Jesus again unto them, I go my way, and ye shall seek me, and shall die in your sins: whither I go,

ye cannot come.

(Isa 55:6) Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him

while he is near:

C. Source reveals

the Conviction

(Joh 8:24) I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your

sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins.

III. The Supply of Light

(Joh 8:30-32) As he spake these words, many believed on him. Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye

continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; And ye shall

know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

(2Co 4:7) But we have this treasure in earthen

vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not

of us.
