Rickeys tackling the SDK-8Omicrocomputer kit for his next science project.

Rickey likes soccer, lizards, hotfudge sundaes, skateboards andmicroscopes. He can't decide if he'drather be Franco Harris, BobbyFischer or Jonas Salk.

When his Dad brought homethe Intel SDK-80 microcomputersystems kit, Rickey helped him putit together. It took only four hours.Everything was there. The 8080CPU, RAM, PROM, programmable,I/O, a printed circuit board with allthose capacitors and resistors andthe other things that go with it. The

best part was the instruction manuals.Every step was clearly explained. It waseasy. The programming part lookedespecially interesting. So simple. Justimagine talking to a computer.

The big thrill came on Saturdaywhen they went to his Dad's office touse a terminal. When they connectedthe SDK-80 to the teletypewriterthey got a printout. That was excit-ing. Within an hour they were talkingto the computer, then inventinggames. They stayed all day.

Now Rickey is building a micro-

computer of his own. He may be thefirst kid on his block with his owncomputer. Thanks to a $350 lowinterest loan from his Dad.
