Apprenticeships
Apprenticeships are open to anyone over 16 years-old whether you are just leaving school, seeking to start a new career or are moving into a new role with your existing employer that requires new skills. There may be different entry requirements depending on the Apprenticeship and the industry sector. However, competition for places with employers can be fierce, so you will need to show that you are committed, and aware of your responsibilities to both yourself and the company who would employ you. You also need to be happy to work as both part of a team and individually, and be able to use your own initiative.
To find out more about Apprenticeships and see what opportunities there are in your area visit the National Apprenticeship Service at www.apprenticeships.org.uk/Be-An-Apprentice.aspx

We recruit volunteers to help First Wessex residents, whose gardens have become over-grown and unmanageable. This is a great opportunity to gain work experience, be part of the gardening volunteer team, socialise with like-minded people whilst helping someone to enjoy their garden and promote their well-being. If you love the outdoors, are friendly and an active, keen gardener (experience an advantage, but not essential), then this role is for you! You will receive an induction, on-going support and training.
The Befriending Scheme aims to reduce social isolation, promote good health and wellbeing and to help our residents to sustain their tenancies and remain as independent as possible. We recruit befriending volunteers who are able to offer their time to visit and support residents on a 1-2-1 basis. You will need to attend a preparation training course which will provide you with the information you need for the role. You will receive on-going support and regular supervision. We ask for about 2 hours a week of your time, to suit you, and we reimburse travel expenses.
