Step 1: Content Audit• Find your best-performing blog posts.• In Jetpack, go to your Site Stats dashboard

and look at your Top Posts & Pages.• In Google Analytics look at

Behavior > Site Content > All Pages

Step 1: Content Audit

Step 1: Content Audit• Make a list of your top-performing blog posts.• Find 3-5 of them with a common theme.• Highlight these – they’re your potential

chapters!

Step 1: SHORTCUT!If you like to write posts in series (and if you do,

check out the Post Series Manager plugin, some cool guys made it) and noticed that any

of your series are among your high-traffic pages, that series topic is an eBook waiting to

happen!

Step 2: Organize Your eBook• Each blog post’s topic can be a chapter.• Organize logically – would you read a book in

that order?• Don’t be afraid to add extra chapters when it

helps the flow.

Step 3: Write!• You CAN just copy your blog posts as the

eBook chapters.• A decent eBook can be as short as 10 pages.• Try to get to 20-30 pages, but don’t try to

write a novel.

Step 4: Enhance!• Design a cover!• Fiverr if you’re not talented• Heck, I’m not a graphic designer but I made these:

Step 4: Enhance!• Images can fill space and break the monotony

of pages of text.• Your own photos are the best since you own them.

Step 4: Enhance!• Great free image resource (just check

the license notes) www.freeimages.com• Search the Creative Commons images at

www.flickr.com• Go crazy at the big stock photo sites like

www.istock.com

Step 4: SECRET!If your book is an instructional one and you’ve made accompanying videos you can link to those videos either as a URL

(remember, eBooks are digital, links work!) or if you plan on printing your

book, insert a QR code!

Step 5: Publish!• Most eBook reading platforms love PDFs!• Want to get on iBooks, Kindle, Nook? Learn how to

format for them here:– iBooks formatting– Kindle formatting– Nook formatting (and anything that uses ePub)

Step 6: Marketing Your eBook• Start by offering your book FOR FREE.• Write a blog post announcing your new eBook.• Add a widget to your home page that shows off

your awesome book(s).• Distribute your eBook with the

Easy Digital Downloads plugin.

Step 6: Marketing Your eBook• But WAIT – don’t just let them

download the book!• Make sure EDD is capturing at least

their name and e-mail address.• You’ve got a mailing list – now use it!

Step 7: Beyond Your Book• You’re now a published author.• People have downloaded your book.• You have these people’s e-mail addresses.• Start an automation sequence with

MailChimp!

Did she say PROFIT?

Step 8: Making Money with Your eBook

• EDD can easily be set to charge for your book.• Here’s what you need to know about publishi

ng to and selling on Amazon.com• Tons of self-publishing services out there:

lulu.com createspace.com

Final Thoughts• If you’re looking to increase blog exposure,

definitely start out free.• Use your e-mail list to your advantage (newsletters,

social networking, etc.)• Don’t forget to include an opt-out!• Release revised editions as necessary.
