Appraisal for Doctors

• The GMP Framework for appraisal and revalidation will form the basis of a standard approach for appraisal

• General information – context about what you do in your work ( current scope )
• Keeping up to date – the quality of your professional work
• Review of your practice – evaluating the quality of your professional work
• Feedback on your practice – how others perceive the quality of your professional work
Six Types of Supporting

Exercise: Each group take a Domain (GMP Framework) or Heading and identify specific and relevant examples of evidence at your place of work to demonstrate competence. Question? Will you be appraised on each part of the GMPF at every appraisal?

What is Reflection?
• Reflective practice is now seen as an integral part of continuing professional development and lifelong learning in healthcare
• Reflective practice should be based on a purposive, defined, finite and structured approach to learning
• Reflective practice is "the capacity to reflect on action so as to engage in a process of continuous learning
• Reflective practice can be an important tool in practice-based professional learning settings where individuals learning from their own professional experiences
