The Challenge •To increase awareness for the residents of

Mt. Washington.•To encourage and educate the residents in

the proper and easy way of making our neighborhoods a more clean and friendly environment.

•To create awareness of the laws and regulations of our city.

Main Focus/Goals

•To make it easier to reduce waste and increase recycling in the area.

•See at least substantial results in efforts for creating awareness.

•Place Flyers on Mt. Washington.•Conduct at least 100 surveys with

students. •See Mt. Washington on the top 12 most

improved neighborhoods for recycling participation for 2009.

Customer Analysis•College Students living on Mt.

Washington. Many live together from groups of 2 through 6. They…▫Eat out a lot▫Buy abundances of alcoholic beverages ▫Collect and use and abundance of paper

products ▫Range in ages from 18-25▫Are among the most wasteful in the

Pittsburgh population ▫They lead busy lives and come and go from

their residences frequently

▫Yes = 95% No = 5%• 3. Do you live on Mt Washington?

▫Yes = 80% No = 20%• 4. Have you been a student at the Art Institute for

longer than 5 quarters? ▫Yes = 70% No = 30%

• 5. If it was easier to recycle and your were encouraged to do so, would you? ▫Yes = 95% No = 5%

• I know through these results that it is possible to encourage and increase participation among those who live in Mt. Washington.

• If we work together for a good cause such as recycling the all around attitude and direction with increase for the better!
