integrating the curriculum with technology.• Have taught Grades 1 – 7 as a class teacher, and

thereafter a computer teacher at Fishhoek Primary. From 1 October will be working for SchoolNet with professional development for its premium members

• Life was revolutionised in 2009 by blogging and discovering a whole educational community ‘out there’.

• Winner of Innovative Teacher 2009 in SA. Winning place in Pan African Finals in Mauritius and participated in World Finals in Brazil. 1 of 50 teachers selected to attend partners in Learning Institute week in Seattle in July 2011

• Textbook writer

Outcome for this session

To show how Web 2 can be a fantastic literacy resource both for students and for teachers.

Current scenario• Digital natives (learners under 18) and

digital immigrants (us). • Do we teach to our past or our learners’

futures?

Technology is not the wave of the future –

it

is the tsunami of the present. (Janice M.

Use a blog to write book reportshttp://josephr4.edublogs.org/2010/07/19/my-report/

More book report ideasThis whole blog called ‘Watch, Connect, Read” is devoted to different types of book reports: http://mrschureads.blogspot.com/

This blog post gives ten alternatives to the traditional book reports: http://theapple.monster.com/benefits/articles/8529-10-technology-enhanced-alternatives-to-book-reports

How can we achieve this?

1. A few computers in a classroom linked with Microsoft Sharepoint

http://schoolnetsa.blogspot.com/2011/08/how-are-south-african-schools-faring-in.html

2. A bank of mobile netbooks that can be booked for use.

3. Schools start to employ technology integration specialists. e.g. Elkanah Househttp://karenstadler.files.wordpress.com/2010/10/bett_competition-entry_elkanahsp.pdf
