protest- to say or to show that you do not like something
boycott- to refuse to buy things from a company until conditions are changed
fasting- a peaceful way to protest by not eating food
strike- when a group of workers stop working until conditions are changed
migrant worker- people who move around the country harvesting seasonal crops
union- a group of workers who join together to seek fair treatment and better pay

A State HolidayChavez’s birthday is an official state holiday in eight states. California is one of them. Cesar Chavez Day promotes service to the community in honor of Chavez's life and work. This day is celebrated on March 31st or the appropriate Monday or Friday nearest that date.
