Project Facilitators

Two types: Work Group and Steering Division

• Work Group:

Function as project’s point person

Complete/update project documents: PSS, CBC, NIB

Secure approvals/address questions by WG, SD, TSC

Provide Updates to SD Project Facilitators or PMO

• Steering Division:

Manage their SD’s project portfolio

Request Updates from WG Project Facilitators

Mentor WG PFs; Active PS WG member

Project Approval Process

1. Project Facilitator creates a Project Scope Statement (PSS).

2. Sponsoring Work Group reviews and approves the Project Scope Statement.

3. The Project Facilitator emails the PSS to the appropriate Steering Division(s) and the HL7 Project Management Office (pmo@hl7.org).

4. PMO reviews the Scope Statement (this occurs simultaneously with step 5).

5. Steering Division reviews and approves the PSS

6. The Steering Division submits Scope Statement to TSC for TSC approval.

7. The PMO audits the PSS approval process and enters approval dates in Project Insight.

8. The PMO and Project Services Work Group ensure that HL7 project methodology is adhered to.

The approval process is also located in Appendix B in the Project Scope Statement Template

Next Steps for PMO, SD PFs, PS WG

• Close out the Project Review and Cleanup Effort

All 3 Year Plans will reside in Project Insight

All projects will contain a current Project Status

• Enhance the SD PF Project Update Process

• Modify the Project Approval Process
