PROGRAM OBJECTIVES-M.PHARM (PHARMACY PRACTICE)
To provide solid foundation in pharmacy possessing basic knowledge and comprehensive
understanding of Profession of Pharmacy
To prepare student Post-graduates for a successful career in Pharmacy Profession with
effective planning skills, problem analyzing skills, leadership skills, communication
skills, and professional ethics
To train student Post-graduates in learning, selecting, and applying appropriate methods,
procedures, and resources of modern tools in Pharmacy Profession
Create dynamic and proficient Pharmacists for their successful careers in Pharmaceutical
industry, academia, government organization, hospitals, and other organizations and as an
entrepreneur
To inculcate in student Post-graduates, ability to gain multidisciplinary knowledge
through innovative projects, visiting research institutions, health care communities, health
promoters, employees and employers
To undertake collaborative projects which tender prospects for continuous interaction
between academia and industry
To inculcate the working together culture for research presentations and recognition
through appropriate student identification and student club activities and journal club
presentations
The Post-Graduates will develop interpersonal skills such as influencing others,
negotiating and working with others, conflict management and leading others through the
problem-solving process. They will be able to lead and function both individually and as
a member of a team.
The Post-Graduates will demonstrate knowledge of professional and ethical
responsibilities as per pharmaceutical jurisprudence. They will be able to demonstrate
knowledge and skills in all disciplines of Pharmaceutical sciences and develop a sound
pharmaceutical care plan to manage medication-related problems. They will retrieve,
evaluate, and apply current drug information in the delivery of pharmaceutical care and
assure safe and accurate preparation and dispensing of medications.
The Post-Graduates will demonstrate the impact of pharmacy knowledge on the society
and also will be aware of modern issues. They will create awareness of healthcare issues
through interactions with others and will gain a sense of self-respect towards community
and citizenship.
The Post-graduates will swear by a code of ethics of Pharmacy Council of India in
relation to community and shall act as integral part of a health care system. They will
demonstrate honesty, integrity, ethical understanding, and respect for others and will
carry out their professional responsibilities by adhering to high ethical standards.
The Post-graduates will acquire excellent interpersonal oral communication and writing
skills. They will be able to demonstrate knowledge and proficiency with current audio-
visual presentation technologies and develop an ability to communicate scientific
knowledge in non-expert/lay term by adopting various modes of scientific
communications (e.g., abstract, manuscripts, project reports, oral and poster presentations
etc). This will allow effective exchange of professional information
The Post-Graduates will master the key concepts in the discipline of their interest in
pharmaceutical sciences. They will demonstrate these skills to use modern
pharmaceutical tools, software, and equipments to analyze & solve problems.
PROGRAM OUTCOMES-M.PHARM (PHARMACY PRACTICE)
PO1. Pharmaceutical Sciences knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science,
pharmaceutical fundamentals, and a Pharmacy specialization to the solution of complex
Pharmaceutical problems.
PO2: Pharmacy Profession: To provide student graduates with solid foundation in Pharmacy
knowledge this includes possessing basic knowledge and comprehensive understanding of the
Profession of Pharmacy
PO3: Problem Analysis: To prepare student graduates for a successful career in Pharmacy
Profession with effective planning skills, problem analyzing skills, leadership skills, research
skills, presentation skills, communication skills and professional ethics.
PO4: Application oriented Knowledge: The knowledge of biopharmaceutics enables the
students to visualize the effect of pharmacokinetic (ADMET) parameters on the biological effect
of the drug. The correlation of pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics is thus introduced and
is experimentally explained to them.
PO5: Environment and Sustainability: Enable extension of pharmaceutical dosage forms, and
enables the students to learn about different packaging materials used in pharmaceutical industry
and the factors governing their use.
PO6: Conduct investigations of complex problems: To understand biopharmaceutical
principles and pharmacokinetic principles through different compartment models, multiple
dosage regimens, non-linear pharmacokinetics, and assessment of bioavailability and
bioequivalence
PO7. Effective Citizenship: Demonstrate empathetic social concern and equity centered
national development, and the ability to act with an informed awareness of issues and participate
in civic life through volunteering.
PO8. Ethics: Recognize different value systems including your own, understand the moral
dimensions of your decisions, and accept responsibility for them.
PO9. Environment and Sustainability: Understand the issues of environmental contexts and
sustainable development.
PO10. Self-directed and Life-long Learning: Acquire the ability to engage in independent and
life-long learning in the broadest context socio-technological changes
PROGRAM SPECIFIC OUTCOMES-M.PHARM (PHARMACY PRACTICE)
PSO1: Impart knowledge on practice of pharmacy including provision for pharmaceutical care
services to both healthcare professionals and patients in clinical settings
PSO2: To impart knowledge on different treatment approaches, optimization of drug therapy,
and evidence-based medications
PSO3: To impart knowledge and skills in hospital pharmacy and community pharmacy settings
PSO4: To impart knowledge and skills for clinical research, conceptualization, designing,
conducting, and managing clinical trials
PSO5: To impart knowledge on drug information, interpretation of laboratory data, patient
medication counseling, medication history interviews, treatment chart reviews, preparation of
study protocols, and preparation of informed consent
PSO6: To impart basic knowledge and skills to practice quality use of medicines, in clinical
practice, analysis of risk and benefits, and identify medication related problems
PSO7: To gain knowledge in preparation of rationale for drug therapy individualized therapeutic
plans based on diagnosis, alternatives of therapy, time-course of clinical and laboratory indices
and adverse effects
PSO8: To train the students and develop their technical skill knowledge in computer
simulations, population modelings and through in vitro and in vivo studies
PSO9: To create a talent pool by involving students in research projects and to make students
undertake research projects under faculty guidance for publication
PSO10: To foster ambitious desire among students to undertake higher studies and career
growth
