Past Progressive Tenses

Present Progressive tense tells what someone is doing RIGHT NOW.
It is formed by using 2 verbs: estar + gerundestar
estoy estamos
estás (estáis)
está están
+ gerund = “ing”
ar = ando
er/ir = iendo
Choose the form of estar that
agrees with the subject of the
sentence.
Use ando for –ar verbs and iendo for –er or –ir verbs.
Ex: hablar = hablando
comer = comiendo
La mujer está bailando el flamenco.
Los novios están buceandoen Cozumel.
Las chicas están comiendo paella.
El muchacho está subiendo piedras en los Pirineos.
Estamos comiendo uvas en la noche del fin de año.
¿Estás poniendo la mesa?
Some gerunds are irregular. -Ir stem changers in the Preterit tense will also stem change in the gerund form.

imperfect tense.
Use ando for –ar verbs and iendo for –er or –ir verbs.
Ex: hablar = hablando

La niña se estabavistiendo por la mañana.
Los músicos estaban tocando la marimba.
