Three Learning Styles Facts

O There are three main cognitive learning styles

visual, auditory, and kinesthetic.

O Everyone processes and learns new information in different

ways.

helps maximize time you spend studying.

Visual

O Uses visual objects such as graphs, charts, pictures, and

seeing information

O Can read body language well

O Tends to remember things that are written down

O Has to think awhile before understanding lecture.

O Is good at spelling.

O Likes colors & fashion.

O Dreams in color.

O Understands/likes charts.

Auditory

O Retains information through hearing and speaking

O Often prefers to be told how to do things

O Summarizes the main points out loud to help with

memorization

O Notices different aspects of speaking

O Often has talents in music and may concentrate better with

soft music playing in the background

Kinesthetic

O Likes to use the hands-on approach to learn new

material

O Is generally good in math and science

O Would rather demonstrate how to do something

rather than verbally explain it

O Likes role playing

O Usually prefers group work more than others
