Message from The Organizing Chairman Postgraduate Renal Society Malaysia has a specific role to facilitate and coordinate training and research activities in the Ministry of Health centres and institutions. It complements and traditionally collaborates with the national societies such as Malaysian Society of Nephrology. Since two years ago, we are fortunate to receive support from the International Society of Nephrology in the form of a speaker’s sponsorship. This Annual Post Graduate Course in Nephrology will be our eight course since its inception in 2006. This year, the focus will be on on Hemodialysis (HD). This year’s program covers most of the relevant areas of hemodialysis practice including the technical aspects of water purification , quality and standards, dialysis dose and adequacy ,various formats of hemodialysis from conventional to convective therapies, nocturnal haemodialysis through SLED and to extra-corporeal therapies in poisoning. Other areas covered include pregnancy in HD, and various other clinical aspects of hemodialysis and complications including Mineral Bone Disease , anaemia, infections and other long term complications. Furthermore, there is also the inclusion of new topics such as incident reporting in hemodialysis and quality initiatives which are now fast becoming important components in in the delivery of optimal hemodialysis care. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the organizing committee, the speakers, Ministry of Health Malaysia, Ministry of Education, The International Society of Nephrology, the industries and the secretariat who had supported and contributed to the success of this year’s program.
