Project DescriptionThis project is about reviving a dead or fadng brand and bringing it back to life using modern branding. The intent is to find a way to engage with the audience and regain their interest in the brand.

Project Concept/Design GoalsThe goal of the brandmark is to connect with roadways or a racetrack and feel like a refined version of the original logo. Red is used as a departure from the classic DeLorean stainless steel body because it is associated with speed and power. Completed

2The Absence of Color

The Absence of Color

Project DescriptionThis project was about investigating the definition of experimentation with typography and integrate its practice into our work. Desired outcomes include: pushing conceptual skills to new levels, taking risks using any materials necessary, and explore a theme based on a color. The goal was to examine old conceptions about what type is capable of.

Project Concept/Design GoalsI chose the color white because it is not a color in the traditional sense. White (and black) do not have wavelengths like other colors in the visible spectrum. White is seen when all other wavelengths of light are reflected back to the viewer. This seemed like an interesting starting point to explore experimental typography based on a color.

Project DescriptionIn this class we spent the term creating multiple deliverables for a film festival. The basis for the festival is to focus on one director and a selection of his or her movies. The goal is to develop a concept based on the movies and build an identity that can be applied to all of the festival materials.

CompletedSpring, 2013

DisciplinesFilm Festival

Kind of ProjectIdentity

Project Concept/Design GoalsI chose Oliver Stone after seeing similar emotional themes within many of his movies. Greed could be thought of as a form of passion that has moved in ways that cause more harm than good. Passion could also have negative consequences if taken to extremes. Passion was at the root of character actions across all of the movies that were selected for the festival. In the end, passion or greed betrayed them, often with dire consequences.

Project DescriptionThe goal of this project is to create a small book similar to Chapbooks that were freely passed out on the streets of Europe between 1500–1800.

These books were typically between 8 and 24 pages in length and contained a mix of poems and stories.

Project Concept/Design GoalsCreating a brand identity started with naming and then worked to develop a signature. The identity was applied to a head’s up display system projected in front of a car windshield (utilizing augmented reality). Posters promoting the service were created along with a brochure explaining it’s features.

The Red Book

Project DescriptionThis project was aout redesigning select spreads from an existing coffee-table-like book (the book must be larger than 7”x10”). The redesign must explore a variety of spreads containing: text and images, text only, and image only.

Project Concept/Design GoalsThe recently published (2009) The Red Book is comprised of two sections. One with art and one with text commenting on the art. The concept is to combine the two sections together. This makes it possible to read the commentary and view the art at the same time. The intended audience is students.
