PROJECT STATEMENT:
The urban element is a medical clinic that will refresh, renew, and rejuvenate the users and return them back to their best state of well being. as a medical office building of 6 diverse clinics, the design of the entry level considered the various user needs of all those entering the building. the community of the gulch in nashville was a key factor of the design by featuring local artist in the art gallery, incorporating the music culture of nashville, including an exercise space that invites the public in, and a health foods shop which sells locally grown produce. ultimately this medical office building will be an as-set to this community by providing resources that contribute in long lasting benefits to the life style of its users.
PROJECT GOALS AND OBJECTIVES:

CONCEPT
ENTRY LEVEL:we began the process of developing our concept by analyzing the evidence we have gathered of what functions a medical office building in the gulch would need to satisfy. we first looked at why people come to a medical office building in the first place, which then led to a single phrase- “to leave in a bet-ter state of being than when you arrived.” discussing this further, we found a theme of repetition, finding ourselves using words that started with “re”. this resulted in the choices of refresh, renew, and rejuvenate, each representing a different function of the entry level. this medical office building will refresh all users through the healthy food options presented on the entry level, re-new the users body and mind through physical activity, and rejuvenate all users through the art and music, connecting them to the surrounding nash-ville community.

BRANDING clinic LEVEL:THE DESIGN OF THE OPHTHALMOLOGY CLINIC REVOLVES AROUND OUR CONCEPT OF BRINGING THE PATIENT BACK TO THEIR BEST STATE OF WELL BEING. THE CURVI-LINEAR LINES ON THE FLOOR AND CEILING PROVIDE WAY-FINDING TECHNIQUES THAT ADD COMFORT AND EASE IN GUIDING THE PATIENTS THROUGH THE CLINIC. THE INCORPORATION OF NATURAL MATERIALS AND EXTERIOR VIEWS GIVES A CALMING AND POSITIVE ATMOSPHERE FOR ALL USERS TO ENJOY. THE RADIAL SYMMETRY OF THE FLOOR PLAN CREATES A SIMPLISTIC AND EFFICIENT ENVIRONMENT FOR EMPLOYEES AND PATIENTS DURING THEIR TIME IN THE CLINIC. MOVEMENT, LIGHT, AND FOCUS ARE KEY ELEMENTS OF THIS DESIGN THAT MAKE THE SPACE SUCCESSFUL IN RETURNING THE USERS TO THEIR BEST STATE OF WELL-BEING.

This thesis project uses interior design to strategically create a facility that is designed specifically to improve and stimulate learning and comfort for autistic children. The design uses evidence based research to gain a full under-standing of how autistic children think and take in three dimensional space and uses this information to create a facility that will give the children the comfort and independence that is needed for learning to best occur.
To create a facility that focuses on enhancing the learning of autistic chil-dren though specific design innovation.

INSPIRED FROM THE CASE STUDY, MEDIATE, AND HOW THEY DESIGNED A SPACE USING CONTROL TO ACHIEVE A SENSE OF aGENCY, ENHANCE NON-REPETITIVE ACTIONS, ADAPT TO EACH CHILD, AND INCLUDE HIGH FUNCTIONING CHILDREN IN THE DESIGN TEAM TO REACH THE GOALS FOR THIS SPACE.
THE MEDIATE SPACE ACTED AS A “LIVING” ENVIRONMENT THROUGH THE INTERACTIVE EL-EMENTS THAT MAKE UP THE MAIN PART OF THE DESIGN. THESE ELEMENTS ANALYZE HOW EACH CHILD IS RESPONDING TO THE SPACE AND PRODUCED THE APPROPRIATE STIMULA-TION NEEDED FOR EACH CHILD. THESE RESPONSES WERE BASED OFF OF THE CHILD’S SENSO-RY NEEDS.
MY SPACE INCORPORATES THE IMPORTANCE OF THE INTERACTIVE ELEMENTS, AS SEEN IN ME-DIATE, WHILE USING WHAT WAS FOUND THROUGH EVIDENCE BASED RESEARCH ON DESIGN-ING FOR AUTISM. THE SPACE FOCUSES ON BEING FLEXIBLE, COMFORTABLE, AND BENEFICAL FOR LEARNING IN AUTISTIC CHILDREN.

SNOEZELEN ROOM:
This space is where the children can relax or calm down if they get frustrated/overwhelmed.
It features bubble tubes, a slide, ball pit, cusioned seating, a swing, and a compression toy. These elements are specifically chosen for this space because they focus on the senses. This type of space has been found to be very successful with children on the spectrum.

The design of this corporate office space will embody the values and image of invest atlanta. this is a progressive investment firm, and that quality will be key in the design and branding. collaborative spaces will be utilized for spon-taneous interaction as well as a semi-open layout for the offices to encour-age teamwork. providing everyone access to natural light is a critical design feature. direct and easy circulation guides clients and visitors through the space with ease. this design emphasizes the brand of invest atlant by incorpo-rating the logo throughout the entire office building.

MISSION STATEMENT:
THE RESTAURANT DESIGN WILL CAPTURE THE ESSENCE OF BEING IN SEVILLE’S CULTURALLY RICH STREETS THROUGH COLOR, TEXTURE, AND CONTRAST. THE PATRONS WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITUES TO EXPERIENCE A VERY SO-CIAL ENVIRONMENT IN THE BAR AREA OR SETTLE DOWN IN THE COMFORTABLE, WARM COMMON DINING SPACE FOR A MORE INTIMATE MEAL. THIS RESTAURANT WILL AT-TRACT MANY DIFFERENT PATRONS, FROM THE BUSINESS SCENE TO THE THEATRE CROWD, MEETING THE NEEDS OF ALL THE PATRONS WHO ENTER THE SPACE. THE DESIGN OF THIS RESTAURANT WILL NOT ONLY ALLOW FOR A VISUALLY PLEASING AND ENJOYABLE ENVIRONMENT BUT WILL BE AN EXPERIENCE IN ITSELF.

THIS SPACE WILL TAKE VISITORS BACK THROUGH TIME AND EDUCATE THEM IN THE HISTORY OF THE GREAT LAKES. THE LAYOUT IS DIVIDED INTO FIVE AREAS, EACH ONE REPRESENTING ONE OF THE LAKES. A FLUID FLOORPLAN MOVES THE VISITORS THROUGH EXHIBITS THAT ENCOURAGE INTERACTION. THE EXHIBITS WILL FOCUS STRONGLY ON VIRTUAL MEDIA AS WELL AS PROVID-ING DISPLAYS FOR DIFFERENT SENSES AND LEARNING TYPES TO APPEAL TO ALL USERS. THE MU-SEUM IS EXPECTED TO BE A SPACE THAT ENCOURAGES USERS TO USE THEIR SENSES TO ACTIVELY PARTICIPATE IN THE LEARNING PROCESS.

THE CONCEPT FOR THIS COMPACT VACATION HOME WAS THE SURROUNDING EN-VIRONMENT. THIS PROJECT, LOCATED IN ORE-GON, USES THE NATURAL SURROUNDINGS AS INSPIRATION FOR THE DESIGN THROUGH EXPANSIVE WINDOWS, PLACED AT VARIOUS LEVELS IN THE SPACE TO BRING NATURE INSIDE. NATURAL MATERIALS WERE ALSO USED TO UNI-FY THE INTERIOR WITH THE EXTERIOR. SUSTAIN-ABILITY WAS CONSIDERED THROUGHOUT THE SPACE TO BE SENSITIVE TO THE ENVIRONMENT.

product runway was a competi-tion for professional interior designers, architects and students. The challenge was to design an outfit using architectural and interior materials.
CONCEPT STATEMENT:
THE CONCEPT is “sleek sophistication”, achieving a red carpet look through in-novative use of jute, vinyl tile, weld rods, sheet vinyl, luxury vinyl tile and vinyl cove base. these products were all from johnsonite, a high performance resource in flooring. the colors were chosen to give a bold look to a simplistic design.
