Maximum distance between controller and switch, or switch and

pc = 100 meters

Create a new TCP/IP network or make use of an existing network

Creating wireless networks may overcome issues where cable

cannot be laid

If a connection method of RS485 only is to be used then an ART.481 must be

used to convert USB at the PC end to RS485.

Maximum distance between Art.481 and furthest controller is 1km

Up 25 devices on a 1km BUS (controllers / BIOC readers and

Art.481 are all classed as devices)

A low capacitance 2 pair RS485 cable is recommended, such as

Beldon 9842 or equivalent

RS485 start and end of BUS must be terminated, and screen

must be connected to GND at one end only

RS485 hubs or repeaters may be used for larger distances or

additional controllers
